I do understand why supporters don't like Leipzig, but there is definitely a bit of hypocrisy going on over there in Germany atm.Comment

Awful, awful news.
I hope those who survived get past this tragedy, and those who passed rest in peace.Comment

EDIT: Just as i said it, Colombian officials comfirmed that there are 76 out of 81 (72 passengers + 9 crew members) people dead. What a tragedy.Last edited by Schrankwand; 11-29-2016, 06:23 AM.Comment

Just to look at this from a pure footballing perspective: the club seems to be beloved in Brazil; never been relegated and have been getting promoted the past few years. The competition final they were competing in is the equivalent of the Europa League, according to people who are familiar with south american football.
I hope they call it off and just make Chapecoense honorary champions or something of that sort.Comment

This tragedy reminds me of Manchester United in 1958 and the russian ice-hockey team Lokomotiv Jaroslawl. Just the imagination that a whole football team is vanished. Unbelievable.
Also: 3 players of the team are injured and did not take the flight. After the team made the final of the Copa Sudamericana, Coach Ciao Junior said "If I died today, I'd die happy". Scary.Comment

That would be a great idea. But i think they'll probably vacate it.

If Man. United offered any sort of help due to both club's similar tragedies, that'd be great, but really, every club should be offering something in support just as a sign of solidarity.
I'd hate to think what those guys are going thru right now. That's some twisted luck right there.Comment

Atletico Nacional of Colombia, who they were set to play in the final, have apparently requested that the Cup be awarded to Chapecoense.Comment

I imagine we'll see a recognition and moment of silence before this week's Cup matches and matches on the weekend.Comment

Hadn't actually heard of Chapecoense until today... absolutely the worst way to become aware of them. So cool to see what Nacional did, especially considering what a major opportunity this was for them as well. The support is absolutely crazy to me, really cool to see so many clubs from all across the world coming together in support of these guys. What the three Brazilian clubs are doing so they can continue their season is absolutely encouraging as well.MLB: Minnesota Twins
NFL: Philadelphia Eagles
NBA: Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves
European Football: Manchester United, Brighton & Hove Albion
NCAA: UNI Panthers, Iowa Hawkeyes
