    60 Min Games?

Proposals to scrap 45-minute halves and penalty rebounds are among a series of new ideas put forward by football's lawmakers.

Not sure what leagues get impacted if this goes through. But would be huge if it does. One thing I'd hope happens if they do make 60 Min games is to stop clock during breaks in play like ball went out, goal scored, free kick and so on.

i don't think it would be a bad change. probably would allow the players to play a bit more aggressive being that they would have to conserve their stamina a bit less.

personally, i would rather see substitutions changed. either let there be 3 subs per half or let subbed out players return to pitch, essentially giving them a breather.

I think I would be for the 60 minute clock with time stopping for stoppages.

I know in college soccer, they are allowed limited substitutions, but players who are subbed off are allowed one re-entry, provided it occurs in the second half.

File the time thing under "if it ain't broke don't fix it" for me.

Same thing with subs unless you're talking about making some kind of change so players can be properly checked when they have a head injury.

No. Just no. There is nothing wrong with it.

That would be like changing nine inning baseball games to six innings.

The only change I support is the one about not blowing the final whistle as long as the ball is in play.

I'm sure big business loves this idea, because it means we would no longer get 45-50 minutes of gameplay without commercial interuption.

Not a fan of the clock stopping when the ball goes out, because that opens the door to lengthier stoppages in play.

That's what rugby does. Rugby does so much right, but then again the physical nature of the game weeds out the diving, fake injuries, and general time-wasting we see. It's harder to cheat when you know a 300 pound guy will take your head off in the very next play.

If businesses had their way/soccer was Americanized, we'd have 4 quarters of 15 min each. So it'd be like NFL but less commercial breaks.

But still, outside of hockey, soccer I find is best sport for in game advertising. Hockey has boards, and soccer with the led boards all around the field is nice too.

60 minute games with clock stoppages just means networks will find a way to finally, finally, insert commercial breaks into the beautiful game. I already tolerate the score-overlay and whatever else on the TV screen getting random ads during a match; what more when they actually stop the clock?
