Damn, the second Ederson went down it was frighteningly clear he wasn't going to be walking off the pitch.

That's as close to an orange card as you're gonna get.

It's an incredibly clear red to me. You can't jump with both feet off the ground, raise one foot that high, and not have it considered incredibly dangerous.

I mean just look at that. There wasn't any intent to harm, but what Mane did was absurdly dangerous and it has to be a red. He didn't just raise his foot—he actually jumped up and forward. Even if he hit him in the chest it should be a red.

Another angle—it's a red all day. Excellent call by Moss to get it right.

I think there's a good chance it finishes 10v10 with Salah getting Otamendi sent off

Anyone saying it's not a clear red, that's it's just a 50/50, etc. has obviously taken several kicks to the head themselves (Gary Neville).

I thought orange as it happened in real time, but after several replays and what others have said, red is right. It WAS 50/50 and Mane was going for the ball, but it was a reckless challenge and should be a sending off.

It's too bad considering how shaky both defences are, it was setup to be a great back-and-forth match.

Had the makings of a 2-2 game before the red.

It was dangerous and a red but I'm not sure what else he could have done. The keeper is 30 yards out and has to use his head. That was going to terrible for one of those two guys any way it was sliced.

If I had Mane's pace, I'd think I could get to it before the keeper as well.

To clarify, when I say some are dismissing it by using the term 50/50, I mean they use that term as a way to justify there being nothing wrong with the challenge, and just part of the game.

When I hear 50/50, I think two players simultaneously sliding for a loose ball and smashing into each other. Not one player going for a ball with their head and the other leaping into the air with a foot at head height. Yes, it's a 50/50, but the likes of Gary Neville (but not you) are using that term as a way to wash over the dangerous play.

I'm pretty impressed with Moss being in position to see it clearly and make the right call. I don't know if I've ever said that about him...

I was pretty excited to wake up early and watch the match, but I ended up wandering away from the tv more after the third goal.

Yeah I don't think it was malicious by Mane. Just one of those moments where he had to go all out and try to get a touch on it. Glad Ederson is OK. Could have been much worse.
