Isn't that going to draw ire from FIFA and IFA?

Re: 2020-2021 English Football Thread
Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) received backing from football lawmakers, International Football Association Board (IFAB).
From the Premier League show I'm currently watching with former PL ref Chris Foy he says the Joel Ward pk would not have been awarded, because he would be adjudged too close to get out of the way.
The Eric Dier one would still be a penalty, because according to law 12, the ball struck his arm when it was above his shoulder.Comment

Re: 2020-2021 English Football Thread
The whole thing is a mess, but isn't part of the issue that the Premier League finally adopted a set of rules the rest of the Europe (at least) had been using for a year, but neglected to implement the less stringent interpretation of the rules that was implemented this year?
So, from what I've gathered: Premier League did their own thing entirely last year, like morons, while the rest of Europe adopted a new set of rules. This year the league finally gets its **** together, but almost in an act of defiance and intended rigidness they follow the rules exactly as written without adopting the ability to interpret the handball law as they were instructed they could. This has allowed them to say "See?! We tried it your way, and it just doesn't work for us." even though there was already an ability to be less strict about the handball law, they just seemingly ignored it.
Yes, I've complained in here about the handball decisions and part of that is due to the league refusing to accept that they could be more lenient on handballs as they were told they could be starting this year. The problem is that, essentially, even though the league adopted the updated rules they're still an entire year behind.
TL;DR — The Premier League and FA have once again engaged in an act of English exceptionalism instead of conforming to the norm.Comment

Liverpool's most dangerous opponent in the league, COVID, has got Mane now. Wouldn't be surprised if there's more coming.Comment

It’s just the beginning of the season so it’s insane to think how this will affect each team as we go forward. Going to be bonkers.
Also, if you play Arsenal, some of your players test positive a few days later it seems.Comment

I don't think I've ever quite experienced what I did when I turned on Everton v Brighton. Immediately, I had no idea who was who (the scoreboard wasn't up) due to their kits. Brighton's away kits are essentially Everton's, and Everton and wearing a very Brighton-ish home kit.
Bonkers.Comment

Such a wide open game. Mendy is going to get a 2nd yellow if he isn't careful.Comment

Other than Mendy being terrible, I don’t really have many other critiques; I think Leeds are just really good.Comment

Re: 2020-2021 English Football Thread
Bielsa and Pep after the whistle was great. Yes, it’s nice to see managers feuding, but instead of the usual faux respect this was actual admiration for each other. You could almost see Bielsa mentally switch out of his in-match intensity and just be happy to see a friend standing next to him.
Just a nice little moment that was genuine and not obligatory.Comment
