Dani Carvajal had Luis Diaz in his back pocket tonight. The quietest he's been for us.Comment

2021-2022 UEFA Competitions Thread
So I haven’t spoken on here since Saturday but I took my son to his first champions league final and he never wants to go to a game again
Madrid fans and Liverpool fans were incredible. Both behaved incredibly. There was a handful that tried to get in (knowingly) without tickets or using fake tickets but for the most part it was just an embarrassing show from the French police
Stewards at turnstiles letting local people in, locals rushing gates (I saw 20-30 rush through one security checkpoint at one point)
Social media has done a lot of typical “Liverpool fans at it again” and as wrong as that has always been, every eyewitness on Saturday (except those from France and UEFA themselves trying to cover their asses) will tell you who was at fault for this
I also resent anybody saying “drunk fans” because it’s a lazy stereotype to throw out. People have a few drinks before games but “drunk, ticketless fans” is exactly what the British media and government used to describe Hillsborough and they were wrong, and it’s wrong to tar people with the same brush here

Re: 2021-2022 UEFA Competitions Thread
Yeah, just want to admit that I was very wrong in what I posted going on limited information that I had at the time.
I had been in line for the supporters bar in DC 2 hours before doors opened (which was 5 hours before kickoff) to get a good spot. At that point I was frustrated that the match was getting delayed further.
It has become apparent that this was a complete failure by French police, which is not even a new thing.Comment

Yeah that’s the same story I heard from a few other Liverpool supporters I trust.
Apparently it’s a common thing when English clubs play in France. It happened, not this degree of course, when Chelsea played Lille. Given the reputation of the French police and politicians, no one IMO actually agrees with their accounts.
Sucks to hear that your son didn’t enjoy it but glad you two are safe.
