Thank you, KG. I appreciate that man
I think what has been pretty warming to see is that the reports coming out from people in the city and at the stadium, on both sides, paint a picture of mismanagement by the police and by UEFA themselves. Unfortunately this hasn’t extended to a lot of English fans who seem to be taking the version of events being told by the French government. But that doesn’t matter, it’s the role journalists and other witnesses will have in the likely legal proceedings that will matter
The damage this could have for UEFA going forward is huge. The Super League basically gave them a free run at keeping their stranglehold on European football. Yet they announced the changes to the UCL format, 3 of the semi finalists were Super League members and the eventual winners were the driving force behind it. Having something like this happen at your flagship event is only going to heighten resentment against them as an organisation and call into question their judgement, especially given some of the information I’ve seen about the Saint-Denis area. It is not somewhere that should be hosting a final of this profile
I’m sure my son will be fine with it eventually. We’ve been to Anfield plenty of times and a couple other stadiums around England and never had any problems there. He’s maybe a little too young to understand the different factors at play and once August comes around I’m sure he’ll be itching to get back into the stadium but Sunday was really hard trying to keep him calm. Like a lot of other people there on Saturday, and it may come across as bull**** to deflect from losing, but I don’t think many people really cared too much with the result afterwards because everything before and after the match could have put a really dark shadow over the game itself
