First and foremost, on behalf of myself and our family, I want to express our deepest gratitude for the outpouring of support, love, and sympathy from around the world...

Grant died from the rupture of a slowly growing, undetected ascending aortic aneurysm with hemopericardium, is the tl;dr.

The feet to to turn and start that attack around the 18 and then the footwork in the box….he’s a level above Halaand.

Not looking great for Messi, if I'm being honest.

Argentina has looked very strong this tournament.

I'm sure they would have preferred Morroco but it looks to be a great final.

The 3rd place match looks to be pretty good too. Looks like that may be a very intense edge of your seat type match. Opening goal in the final obviously matters but I'd be very surprised if it stays 1-0 FT. But I would not be surprised if the 3rd place match ends 1-0 so every attack is going to be nerve wrecking.

just gotta hope both teams will care about the 3rd place match, still feels like the third place match is just cruel and unusual punishment, especially this year with all the injuries and selection problems, but money is very important.

The 3rd place match is our reminder that they give out medals (a la the Olympics) at the World Cup.

This... is awful. A tragedy really. None of it sounds appealing.

Doesn't matter how horrible it sounds, they think it puts more money in their pockets

Soccer is turning into a 24/7/365 sport real quick. I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen the number of injuries sky rocket in recent years. Unfortunately, I think the game is getting to breaking point where the best players will either refuse to play for their international squad or their club contracts won't allow them to.

And seeing/knowing how important country pride is for players, the Clubs may not have much of a choice but to oblige.

To play devil's advocate though, couldn't the tournament expansion result in fewer qualifying games?

I thought about that. Wouldn't that take money out of the confederations' pockets? Also, that'd be money from FIFA's pockets.

Probably but I would think the money gained from additional WC games would be more.
