I just don't think soccer is seen as a money making venture for young athletes either. And it's not seen as part of the culture here at all. It has so much going against it, and I don't see that changing much.

Re: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
Think it would take a breakout star to capture the country's imagination with Instagram-esgue dribbling highlights. So yeah we just need an American Messi thats all.Comment

Re: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
It was 36 years ago that i watched Ian Bridge hit the crossbar against France in an eventual 1-0 loss. I was 16 years old.
It was as close as we would come to scoring at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico and we couldn't get out of CONCACAF qualifying until this year. For most of those 36 years we couldn't even make the final round of qualifying.
So you better believe I have taken the day off work and I will celebrate today with friends and a few beers at our local pub no matter the result.Comment

I will accept 7-0. Good effort.
82/18 possession and over 1,000 passes for Spain. 0 shot attempts for Costa Rica.Comment

The fact that Jordan Morris has gotten consistent playing time for the entire duration of Gregg's stint so far, but he wasn't convinced of Sargent, is legitimately all the proof you would need that he's not up for this task lmao.Comment

Re: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
Good effort by my Canada squad against a tough Belgium team but at the end of the day our finishing was awful -- 22 shots but only three on target.
Davies' awful penalty pretty much exemplified that.
I don't quite get how there wasn't a penalty against Laryea when he got stepped on in the box but that's football.
Still waiting for that first Canadian World Cup goal. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see that until the final game against Morocco.
The bar was the real winner today. Since when are pints $11? Got to go back to work tomorrow to pay for that tab.Comment

Re: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
Lmao that ending, Portugal keeper saved by the pitch.
Ronaldo was absolutely letting him have it after the final whistle, pretty sure Bruno was yelling at him during the game. Do they have any other keepers? This guy might not be up for it haha.Comment
