Re: 2022-23 English Football Thread
Yeah it’s terrible. Like legit early 2000a level of production.
Even the stadium atmosphere is super drowned out although the Emptihad isn’t the best arena to judge these things lol

Yeah, the whole thing was just painfully low energy overall. It gave me flashbacks to awful MLS broadcasts live from the crumbling RFK stadium.Comment

Idk if it's just phoning it in cause they don't care at all, or if they can't get anyone better than the people they have, its borderline comedic.Comment

- It's a contact sport.
- He was going for the ball.
- Stop being a baby.
- Just a mistiming.
- You can't punish all contact.
- Looks worse in slow motion.
Pair a few of those together with some sarcasm and you have a typical brain-dead, but serious justification.Comment

Imo the biggest frustration with these players is that every team has at least one player that gets away with too much stuff, but they aren't all punished equally.Comment

He's a casemiro/fernandinho but without the reputation, though i guess tbf he is finally starting to get one.

So, on Arsenal, I can’t think of anyone who consistently hacks opposing players down dangerously. However, Ben White gets away with blatant trips because he sweet talks the referees with his Englishness. They won’t hurt anyone but they’re as cynical as it gets.
In that same match Robertson got away with a tackle, also. He’s generally quite reckless but seemingly gets away with things because he just sprints so hard and puts in so much gosh darn effort. Wasn’t he the one who pushed an opponent into the advertisement hoardings a few years ago in a preseason match and seriously injured him? I believe so.
This all reminds me: watch out for Newcastle. They’re cleverly assembling a rather expensive British squad who will win over pundits and officials for being so British despite their ownership. They’re going to get away with more **** in the future than they do now. Just a rich Burnley.Last edited by Krebstar; 01-30-2023, 10:27 PM.Comment

Re: 2022-23 English Football Thread
Actually think Odegaard gets away with more than White, he’s been pretty brilliantly deployed by Arteta because he’s very unassuming and gets fouled a lot himself, but on defense he’s literally playing Fernandinhos role where he’s the first line of defense and most of the time he just commits a foul to stop an attack.
I agree though I don’t think arsenal has any super reckless players.
Also Robertson has pushed multiple people into the ad boards hasn’t he?Comment
