Final scoreline didn't represent the match to me. They overturn that Garnacho goal, which feels dumb as hell to me, and then later a fluke extra time goal makes it 3-1. So we pretend Arsenal blew out Man U, and that's the narrative. It's like, why did I even bother spending time watching that match? Idk.

I will say this about VAR and offside. It’s idiotic to me to use it for that. You cannot 100% tell exactly when it leaves the players boot for the initial pass. You can “kind of” tell but not the exact few milliseconds and inches as to when the ball has left the boot to start going forward. It’s a blur lol. You then judge offside when they barely can tell exactly if a guys arm, shirt, pinky, toenail is in an offside position either, especially when you are almost guessing at the first part of the attempted pass.
But alas. That’s football.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

But do we, and is it?
To me, the story coming out of that match is that Arsenal played better and look like a side who know what they’re doing, where it’s still up in the in regards to if ten Hag can get a tune out of those players, especially on the road against a top-half side.
Also, with the return of Jesus, Arsenal’s attack has become more troublesome for opponents, especially if the defense gets sorted.
Some might say VAR is/was the story of the match but there was so much more happening than that.Comment

Can we not go like one week without some new domestic abuse/sexual assault incident in pro soccer?Comment

That’s how I feel about it.
Arsenal were the better team for most parts of the game and felt in control as well. But up until that Rice goal, it definitely felt they were pulling a repeat performance of the Fulham game from last week.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2023–2024 English Football Thread
A non-VAR interesting note: United we’re leaving Rice unmarked at the back post on corners throughout the first half and only focused on the near post. They continued doing so in the second half, and eventually Arsenal targeted Rice in that position. Evans and Gabriel were doing the usual fouling of each other, so I won’t hear any of that nonsense.Comment

VVD suspended one game for "abusive and insulting language" He was out of line, so OK.
Looking forward to this not happening to anyone else this season even though it'll be deserved.Comment
