Gary Neville saying he thinks Spurs can still win it shows just how low the bar is consistently set for them in the media. Everyone jokes that they're, well, Spurs, but if they don't win this they'll still be praised for some ridiculous reason (because they don't win anything, so they're an 'underdog' and Kane's presence still looms).

I’m just wondering how long it’s going to take Kreb to admit that Spurs are actually pretty good. Should we have a pool?

The problem for me is he legitimately goes to play the ball before the defender is planted. What is he supposed to do, not try to kick the ball? It’s one of those that could go either way for me. I’m just pissed they sent it down for review. Because of course they did.
Also, Alisson is the best keeper in the world. Won’t hear arguments otherwise.
He could have made a better tackle. Follow-through’s like that above the ankle are automatic reds nowadays. Happened to us last match with Gusto and a few times with Casameiro.

Slow motion always looks worse but if that’s not a red than I’m not sure what is.

Malice in challenge? Nope
Wreckless? Nope
50/50 ball? Yup
Has nothing to do with slow motion. Has to do with both getting to the ball at the same time. Hell, he even has his boot roll through and over a round ball. It’s a contact sport. That’s not even remotely close to a textbook red card.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Splitting hairs, the old days, whatever, but as a player you can learn to adjust and to not raise your foot and lead into the ball with your studs coming down. He wasn't a sticking in a toe or foot, he was coming down with his foot. When you do that, you take the risk of it being mistimed and nearly breaking an ankle.
Soft, too close to call, whatever—players can avoid it from happening if they stop trying to stamp down on or near the ball itself.
Refs are still ****, though.Comment

Hahahahaha they call that a foul on Salah when he is manhandled all game every game without calls. I’m not usually a conspiracy guy but what the actual **** is going on in this match?Comment

Lol that boots not high Kerik? He literally has his studs in Bissouma’s lower leg.
Malice/Intent doesn’t matter anymore and rightly so since it’s subjective
Wreckless - absolutely, he misses the tackle
Both of em have a right to a 50/50 ball but that doesn’t mean you can clean someone out

Re: 2023–2024 English Football Thread
The issue is he doesn't appear to attempt to kick the ball, because you don't kick a ball with your studs very often, or at all. He's trying to put his foot on the ball, or step to the other side of it to stop the opposing player.

But he was literally attempting to kick the ball and slightly missed it and it was just a follow through of a kick. Not an attempt at a tackle.Comment

Re: 2023–2024 English Football Thread
Correct.
Am I supposed to be impressed that they can suddenly pass through a press, like 80% of the league can? Or that they actually attempt to play football again after several years of dire ****?
They drew Brentford, beat the awful United, beat awful Bournemouth, beat awful Burnley, nearly lost to awful Sheffield United, and got lucky against Arsenal (really, they did).Comment
