Nuno jt is, so that’s Forest safe from relegation (although, looking at the bottom three, it seems as if it’s already decided).

West Ham with a good example of not wanting to be here at all. They scored a nice goal to make it 3-1 with about 10 mins left on their 2nd shot attempt of the match. Then went back to jogging around. It hasn't gone well for them.

        League cup? Check.
        Festive period fixtures looming? Check.
Good league standing as of now they don't want to screw up? Check.

Them not wanting to be there is the correct feeling.

Don't agree at all. For a club like West Ham, you try to win the things that you can. Usually these kinds of sides are a nightmare to play against in the EFL Cup. It was rather pathetic.

(It wasn't that I was special, I just for some stupid reason had watched many Newcastle games in the second half of that season.)

I also think he's getting worse, and it's because he gets away with it again and again, so of course he'll keep doing it and having it brushed off as 'Oh that's a bit naughty' or whatever other infantilizing language gets tossed around playfully.
He’s definitely getting worse about it, doesn’t help that the media loves Newcastle atm.

              Yeah all you here is

“Newcastle’s depleted squad” like they’re the only squad dealing with injuries.

The draw has blessed us with a possible classic 0-0 Liverpool-Chelsea final. Rejoice.

Pretty sure Chelsea and Liverpool have had more substantial injuries than Newcastle all season. Probably a few others I’m sure.

Well, they won a European trophy last season, and I’d say they’re in a different boat than a team set to finish 10th–14th. They’re again fighting for a European spot, in a European competition, and financially that trumps the fixture congestion causing league cup.

I know, I know, the players should want it—we’re all realists here—the players don’t give many ****s about the league cup, and I don’t blame them considering the other trophies they’re fighting for.

And the league cup is pathetic, so their performance is fitting.

Nah, win everything all the time.

West Ham is not good enough to just throw a cup so they can focus on a different one.

As a general motto and attitude, sure—but I bet we’ve all been in professional situations where we should care, and on that day we just don’t. I hate the idea that because it’s football, that can’t happen.

I guess my real point is nobody should be surprised. Teams (of all stature and size) have been treating that competition differently for over a decade (increasingly with the FA Cup, also).

I just don’t see the point in caring whether or not a team shows up for the league cup, because it’s not new. Yes, some do, but last night was not even close to the first time a team said **** that cup—and I kind of get it/am not the least bit surprised.

We all should always care—but the truth is, we don’t.

Time for the UK government to step up like they said they would.

I love that clubs are making statements against, and then Napoli is like “Yeah, we’re in.”

With the Prem, PSG and Bayern publicly against it, I feel like it will have a very hard time getting off the ground.

The crazy part is that their proposed format is so much better than the new UCL format rolling out next year.
