Any cup is a good cup to win in my book. Obviously it's not on par with a few other competitions, but this is just a good way to build momentum for Liverpool to give Klopp a proper sending off in the other competitions

Everton's points deduction changed from 10 to just 6.

Getting them all out of his system before the derby, I guess.

I don't think any of these domestic cups really matter. League cup or FA. It's like 1% the level of prestige as winning the league.

I'll always hold the FA Cup well, well above the league cup (even if I didn't support Arsenal) and that's due to its history (first held in 1871 compared to 1960 for the league cup) and the clubs involved.

The league cup has a total of 92 teams playing for it—the FA Cup at one point had as many as 763. Yes, only the big teams still win, but there's still some 'magic' to the FA Cup—I don't think the league cup has ever had much magic. It was created by the EFL and it's creator even viewed it for teams who had been knocked out of the FA Cup.

It's a cup, but the FA Cup is THE domestic cup. They both, of course, fail in comparison to the league. I don't care at all when Arsenal fall out of the league cup, but I'm always at least a little bummed when they fall out of the FA Cup.

They’ve both definitely lessened in prestige over the last decade or two because of the financial constraints incentives of the League and UCL but I agree with Kreb, the FA Cup still has a lot of magic to it.

I think a lot of clubs now see the League Cup as more of a distraction until the later rounds when it “can” be a stepping stone for a late season push. As a fan I still want to win everything. Well everything apart from the Community Shield. I’d wish they’d turn that into the Super Cup and make it relevant like every other league in Europe.

They really only matter if its a spring board to something else. Look at United. They won last year and it did absolutely nothing for them going forward.

The EFL Cup should change to only having clubs who aren’t in Europe in it.

But I always find it funny when supporters outside the top clubs try to claim it doesn’t mean anything. LOL shut the **** up, you’d never shut up about winning it.

Keirik and KG have the correct take for clubs who have other ambitions.

It all matters where you’re at. Back in 2012 when we were a dumpster fire, I was ecstatic to win just the League Cup. Now? Nah, but it sure is nice to get another one over Chelsea when they kinda needed it.

                          Trophy is a trophy.

League cup shouldn’t be any top clubs main focus of course, but to call it meaningless is not correct imo.

A real top club should want to win every trophy every season.

League cup is famously one of Jose’s favorite cups. If it’s good enough for one of the winningest and most trophy-focused managers of the last 20 years, it’s good enough for you.

I’m def mad we lost this.

Bingo. Everything else is loser mentality.

But Kreb’s kinda right too. Like if there’s other things in play losing an early round when you’re playing some new lineups is kinda disappointing but meh. But when you’re in the mix later, might as well win it.

Yeah basically if your U15 team makes it through the first couple rounds, it’s time to try to win it.

Very true. 2011 against Birmingham City still stings. It made the 13/14 FA Cup a little sweeter, but at that stage, a trophy for that Arsenal squad would’ve been nice.
