Yes, he will be trouble but it is likely that they will able to go through to the next round. Yesterday, they didn't have a good result but they should be good enough to beat Lazio in the second leg with more than a goal margin.FanAmp - A Fun Place for All the F1 Fans!Comment

Went from being a perfectly fine result to a poor result in an instant. Those rushed clearances going nowhere were costly.
Can very easily turn it around at home and make that goal meaningless. They’ll sit deep but they’ll have plenty of pressure to absorb—I don’t think they’ll be able to, but we’ll see.
I’m guessing I’m the only one who sat through that drab ninety minutes—the referee was awful. Three to four Porto players would tumble down at corners, their keeper was being ran into by his own players, yet Arsenal players were being lectured.

That game also had the most fouls of any CL games this season. Rice was booked at around 70 seconds, and set the entire tone. Pretty much from that point on Porto knew they had the referee in their hands in terms of buying everything they did. I was honestly just as annoyed with coming home from work after avoiding the result for hours, and then sitting through that game only to see that result. The 1-0 would be easier to swallow if it didn't come at the end of one of the worst matches I've seen in years.
It's not an excuse, as Arsenal played poorly, but most teams will when the ball is only in play 51% of the time and you're used to playing football. Plus, Arsenal are great at winning second balls and duels—you can't do that when the referee is blowing this whistle for contact the entire game, meaning there are no second balls.
Basically, the referee had far too big of an impact on the match itself, and it was exactly what Porto wanted.
Arsenal should've played better, but I'm confident we can beat them in London. Arsenal supporters lost their **** after the Rens loss only for us to them beat them 6-0 at home. Not the exact situation here, but a goalless away result is no longer the issue it once was.Comment

What are they really supposed to do though? Are they supposed to come out and try to play open against one of the better teams in the competition?
Most Arsenal fans I know aren’t panicking they believe they’ll turn it around in the 2nd leg but you have to be able to break teams down. They were fortunate to not be down 1-0 when that guy missed those 2 chances in a split second. That same guy flubbed a few other opportunities too.

Im an idealist, which frames my views on things such as this. I believe there’s a big difference between a low block, tactical nullification, and playing on the break compared to diving and blatant time wasting.
No, some teams can’t challenge others in open matches, but to what level you’re allowed to not engage in a game of football is often determined by match officials. Other than a few instances, Porto were doing what they could to not participate in a football match and the referee went along with it.
Arsenal might still lose, or draw that match at best, but a different referee would’ve told Porto to get up and get on with it, and I’d rather watch that match and indulge in that sport than what I sat through last night.Comment
