Re: The Transfer Thread
When he left PSV he was considered one of the best Dutch players, there should theoretically still be a great player in there somewhere if Klopp can get the best out of him.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Rumors of Mahrez to Arsenal.
I know there will be some turnover, but how does Arsene deploy him?Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Probably on the right of the three behind the striker. Ozil in the middle and Sanchez on the left is quite tasty. Giroud is a tier below the top level strikers though so best they can hope for is 3rd/4th imo.
In other news, Dortmund have a formidable front four now! Auba up top with Reus/Gotze/Schurrle is deadly. Why did we let Schurrle go?

Re: The Transfer Thread
Because he's never lived up to his potential?
As for Mahrez, I'm sure he'll now sign a new contract with Leicester.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
He actually sort of has, he was great for Chelsea. The problem was that we changed our system. Shirley is best when he's told to be direct, play for the counter etc. His attacking work rate is immense, he tirelessly makes run after run and is the type of player that's never shy about having a shot, regardless of the distance, and most of his shots will at least trouble the keeper.
What happened was Jose changed the system. We went from flexible-line counterattack to a low-block heavy possession system. Shirley's dip in form that eventually saw him leave the club was directly related to the change in systems. He really only had 1 bad half season with us, and it wasn't bad so much as it was inconsistent.
He was decent at Wolfsburg but it seems like he didn't want to be there. He's definitely still a great player, and in the right system he will be lethal. Tuchel wanted him pretty badly so I think Dortmund will work out for him.
Funny enough, he'd probably be good in Conte's system.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
The only issue is that is makes play even more narrowly in the final 3rd. Alexis on the left and is right-footed, with Ozil having freedom and Mahrez on the right and left-footed. Both Mahrez and Alexis thrive by cutting inside which presents a problem. If you ask me, then I think this means Alexis going up top and Iwobi gets a run on the left side of the attacking 3.Probably on the right of the three behind the striker. Ozil in the middle and Sanchez on the left is quite tasty. Giroud is a tier below the top level strikers though so best they can hope for is 3rd/4th imo.

It's academic to me. No chance this goes down and I'm sure Leicester will throw £100,000 a week at him and this is a dead issue. But if in the strange case of it happening, I'd bet Vardy would feel like a fool.Last edited by cdawg44; 07-23-2016, 02:09 PM."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush
