Stones is way better at defending than he's currently being given credit for. He's one of the brightest defensive prospects England has produced in a long time, people act like 1 bad season erases all that. His entire team was bad at defending last season.

Since he's been at Everton, he's been publicly under the eye of, or actively pursued by; Barcelona, Chelsea, United, City, and Bayern. He's nowhere near as bad as people keep saying he is.

So Everton's board tells us there's all this money available for Koeman to bring in players, and the only thing they've done so far is sell their best defender. Bold strategy.

He doesn't fit Klopp's system, so he hasn't seen a lot of football. He also didn't really shine under Rodgers. He did okay, but not what he did the seasons prior with Villa. And if you go a couple seasons without performing (scoring, 9 goals over two seasons), or getting much playing time (only 29 games in two years with Liverpool). Not many teams will want to spend the asking price.

He really hasn't been the same player since he suffered his Achilles injury at Villa forcing him out of the 2014 World Cup. He didn't have blistering pace to begin with but the pace he did have has really deserted him.

Like Zo said, he did not fit Klopp's style of play. Press the oppositon high up the pitch and closing down the opposing centre halves. Benteke isn't going to do that.

I really expected him to beast at LFC last year and was quite surprised to see how poor it went.

This is the biggest thing. Also - he missed a career's worth of one-on-one chances last year. He'll do well at his next stop where he's getting playing time, but with no Europe and Sturridge/Origi/Ings in a one-striker system, there is simply no room for him.

I know last year felt like 2 seasons, but he's actually only been at LFC for the one season, ZO

Benteke didn't lose any pace. He's got basically zero confidence after playing in two separate systems that didn't fit him even a little bit. He's become a very underrated striker imo, he was one of the most dangerous strikers in the league at Villa. People seem to think he's just a "pump balls into the box" striker, but he's much more complete than that. He needs a system with goal scoring wingers/wide midfielders, which allows him to swap between playing with his back to the goal, dropping deep, and getting balls to his feet in the channels.

Also, it's easy to look slow when your counterparts are Sturridge, Origi and Ings.

He'd probably be great in a team like Palace/West Ham etc. Hell, he'd even work at Chelsea and Arsenal.
