13.31 Joe Kinnear has been turning the air blue again this morning, with the mild-mannered Newcastle boss less than happy about what has been said this week with regards Shay Given's future. 16.11 Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has no intention of selling Jimmy Bullard or Brede Hangeland during the January transfer window. He does though concede that every player has his price.

16.23 Gareth Southgate has again reiterated his desire to keep Stewart Downing at The Riverside. The Boro boss admits he is aware of interest from Spurs but is adamant his star man will not be sold.

18.22 Czech Republic international Vaclav Sverkos has signed for Ligue 1 side Sochaux from Banik Ostrava, although he is currently sidelined with a knee injury.

18.42 Morecambe have been hit with a transfer embargo after breaking League Two rules which state that no more than 60 per cent of a club's income can be spent on wages.

18.45 Gillingham have completed the signing of Tottenham forward Andy Barcham on a permanent deal. The 22-year-old has been on loan with the Gills for three months

19.00 Rotherham and Shrewsbury have both failed with six-figure bids to sign Liam Hatch from Peterborough. The striker is currently on loan at Darlington.

19.22 Blackburn forward Roque Santa Cruz claims Manchester City are set to bid for him, although he admits there have been no negotiations as yet. Do you think Man City will win the race for the Paraguayan?

19.56 There has been a lot of talk about Manchester City already this transfer window, as we expected, but we are still waiting for them to complete the signing of Wayne Bridge after agreeing a fee with Chelsea earlier in the day.

20.20 Chivas have made enquiries over the availability of Tottenham youngster Giovani dos Santos, who reportedly does not figure in Harry Redknapp's long-term plans.

20.41 An update on the Santa Cruz situation. The Paraguayan's comments were not translated properly and he insists he is happy at Blackburn.

20.44 Nomadic forward Ben Sahar has agreed another loan move away from Chelsea. This time he is heading to Dutch side De Graafschap for the second half of the season.

21.28 Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski has admitted he would be interested in a move to Roma.

22.14 It has been a relatively quiet Friday evening after a hectic morning and afternoon but there is still time for deals to be pushed through tonight. I wonder if there will be any more news on Wayne Bridge's proposed move to Man City.

22.38 Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Gary Neville and Park Ji-sung are both in line for new Manchester United contracts - but the haggling over Carlos Tevez's permanent deal is set to continue.

9.00 The main story this morning centres around Portsmouth striker Jermain Defoe and his continued link with a return to Tottenham. The two clubs are said to be 'miles apart' in their valuations at present, but the issue is refusing to go away.

10.20 Middlesbrough midfielder Gary O'Neil is set to hand in a transfer request as he seeks a return to former club Portsmouth.

10.28 Bayern Munich have won the race to land Hamburg striker Ivica Olic. The Croatia interntional will move to Allianz Arena as a free agent in the summer. A host of Europe's top clubs, including some from England, had been tracking Olic's availability.

10.43 Celtic look destined to fail in their efforts to sign Semir Stilic during the January transfer window. The Bosnian midfielder is keen on a move to Scotland but his club, Lech Poznan, are unwilling to sanction the deal.

11.05 Newcastle winger Charles N'Zogbia has admitted that he is actively seeking a move away from the club. The Frenchman has revealed that a switch to Arsenal would be his preferred choice, but accepts that a return to his homeland is a possibility.

11.08 Stoke City have handed a trial to Senegal international Lamine Diatta. The former Newcastle defender will link up with the Potters on Monday.

11.26 Reading boss Steve Coppell admits he is yet to make a decision on the future of Leroy Lita. The striker has recently returned to the Royals after enjoying a productive loan spell at Norwich.

11.39 Lukas Podolski has confirmed that both Manchester City and Tottenham are keen on signing him. The Germany interntional is currently on the books of Bayern Munich, but remains a fringe player at Allianz Arena.

11.52 Mick McCarthy is hoping to keep his squad in one piece during the course of the transfer window. With Wolves currently occupying top spot in the Championship his desire is understandable.

11.56 Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho has dismissed speculation linking him with an approach for Michael Owen. The Newcastle striker will be out of contract in the summer and has been linked with a host of top clubs.
