It's still a bit odd, as Jol has also said several times now that there currently are no bids for him.

Not wanting to play while a deal is being completed and not wanting to play because you're just waiting for an offer are two different things.

The language that was previously used did paint a slightly different picture, but it's still hanging in the same gallery. He has a contract, he's being paid, and he's not on the verge of moving. He should play. He's not a terrible person, but he's acting a bit like a dick. Although certain fans of his will surely disagree, as he seemingly can do no wrong in this situation.

How can you say he's being a dick, when you only have one side of the story?

For all we know, Fulham is telling him NOT to play (they're the ones who told him not to go to Switzerland), so he doesn't get injured and they CAN transfer him.

Really can't pick any side other than Dempsey's at this point. He's not that type of person, he wants to play, he loves the game. When he was with the Revs, they received an offer from Everton that they turned down, and despite being unhappy about it, did he refuse to play then? No, he didn't, and I don't see him doing that now. Like he said, there's definitely got to be more to the story that isn't (and shouldn't be) out in the press.

Fine, for now I'll stay in the middle, but am heavily prepared to say he was acting like a dick.

It smells very strongly of him trying to force a move. He certainly isn't the first to do it, and will certainly not be the last. Why? Because it works. It's not shocking, and it doesn't mean he's evil to his core, but there are better ways to go about it.

I'm excited to see how he'll be defended if it turns out he was just refusing to play so he could get transferred.

"He deserves European football!" Anything to make it still seem like he was in the right.

Dempsey has been bitching for a move for "Champions League football" Since May. His words.

SO yeah, he's lost the benefit of the doubt from me

            Re: The Transfer Thread

The fact that Dempsey is trying to force a move in this manner is rather disappointing to me. I don't think it helps the players out at all to do this. You are just as likely - if not more so - to get the transfer you desire by handing in a transfer request but still giving 100% to the club you are contracted to. Fabregas comes to mind as a positive example. There's a reason why most Arsenal fans still love Cesc but despise RVP. He was classy about his exit.

That being said, I understand Dempsey is 29 years old and wants to play Champions League soccer before it's too late. The problem is, I'm not sure any CL clubs are in for him. I honestly wouldn't mind him at Arsenal, as long as we could get him for cheap and he could accept the fact that he'd be a squad/utility player and not a typical starter. He'd add a goal scoring option at least.

And more United moves, they've apparently signed Alexander Buttner from Vitesse
