Holy crap, this is bringing back the memories. I've never been as into video games as I was when I owned my Genesis. PGA Tour was the first game I got I believe, and probably the last I ever really played with my dad (he didn't die or anything, they just got too complicated).
Tony Larussa Baseball, man alive, I think I still have the notebook I used to keep track of stats for the season I played with the Padres. Ended up being nearly identical to the real season.
Evander Holyfield boxing was a blast with friends and almost always caused real fights to break out.
Sooooo many great games and memoriesComment

Re: OS Roundtable: Best 16-bit Sports Game
I had NHL '96... that game rocked. It was easy to abuse the AI but it was FUN.
PGA Tour Golf II (Genesis) was also excellent. Still kind of tough too since mis-hits are so unforgiving.
World Series Baseball '95 felt like a massive step forward compared to the isometric baseball games that preceded it.
I didn't like them then and I still think the Griffey games are way, way, way overrated.
NBA Jam has aged... poorly.Comment

I know this thread is SUPER old but I came upon it after a google search looking for the best 16-bit football game. Since converting to CPU vs CPU exclusively and realizing that ALL of the old SNES/Genesis games offered it, I'm trying to find the best one to play some seasons on. Those games just seem to give realistic stats and gameplay without all the bell and whistles that newer generations have added like sliders etc.F-L-O-R-I-D-A! S-T-A-T-E! Florida State! Florida State!
