I think this just proves that it's way too early to say which console is better. That's why I'm waiting until sometime next year (or later) to step up to the next gen (though I am leaning towards returning to Sony.)

Interesting that the reviewer did not play the two PS4 exclusive games... Killzone and Knack. More so Killzone is really impressive. But as anyone should know all the best games come out at least a year after.

I agree with a lot of points but not when it says that if you have the games on the previous version you don't need to upgrade. I have played NBA2k14 and there is no way that I will ever touch the PS3 version. Yes, like all the games there are wrong things about it, but the PS4 version is just insane. It plays very well and it is beautiful to look at. Besides, I love the new MyPlayer and MyGM version, so inmersive!!

I dont care about the bells and whistles honestly because both systems will look graphically similar in most respects and similar in power out put, i just want a system that excels at matchmaking and creating a social experience thats better than last gen. Yeah exclusive titles will play a role in my choice also.

Love sports games and FPS. But I am 36 now and admittedly want more for my money then a simple gaming system. So I got the new Xbox. One of my co workers bought his ps4 in to workand showed it off during some down time (yea I know we got a easy job lol) When he put in Battlefield we were all like meh. So I would say this to anyone on the fence; if your a straight up playstation guy or just a gamer overall you might as well wait. Hold on to your PS3 or computer. For me, Xbox just took gaming to a level never seen before. I dont know what I did before I got this thing but I never want to go back. Watching TV and managing my lineup in NBA 2k at the same time??? Priceless.

A video game console was meant to be an escape from everyday life and a change of pace from normal TV or radio. When I play my videogames, thats all I want to do. No cellphone, no radio, no TV, just the immersive game and myself. People bragging about Xbox 1 and its ability to link multiple forms of communication and entertainment kind of ruins the traditional view for what I believe video games to be. If you really have to be able to adjust rosters while you watch TV to enjoy your experience, then god help you. I am not saying that it is not a cool technological feat, its AMAZING, but the PS4 was built for the purist in mind and in my humble opinion after a few years and all of the first party games, it will destroy the organic gaming experience of the x box. take your fancy voice snap commands, Im playing games to play games, not to multitask

Y would it destroy the XBox? I hear you bro, not into multi tasking or whatever. To me thats like having a camera, a cd player, a computer, a cordless housephone, while you read your newspaper lol. Me I'll just chill on my iphone 5. The real question is why should I get rid of my PS3 and get a PS4? Or why should I get rid of my 360 for an XBox 1? Everthing you said I can do with my PS3 or my 360. Why do I need to spend four or five hundred more if thats all I wanted to do?

I thought the final review of the PS4 was pretty spot on. I do however don't agree with the fact the some reviews kinda bash on how the PS4 does not support other features/is only a gaming device. For me that's the reason why I went with PS4 or xbox, when I purchase a game system that's what I want it to do and could care less about Netflix and ect.....I want my gaming experience to be about gaming. The launch titles yes are not THAT great but are good and will hold me over until otherwise. MLB the show and The Division are the titles that I'm waiting for. Yes the features on Xbox are pretty impressive and that's all they are to me nothing to make me run out and buy a system nore make me want it. All in all I'm happy with the PS4 and my experience has been good so far.

Great & honest review which is very much appreciated! I bought my ps3 one year after launch solely for mlb the show. At one point i also had an xbox 360 but those days are over for me with the addition of 2 little girls! I traded in my 360 for credit towards the ps4 eventually & my ps3 the same after I'm done with nhl 14. However, used my xbox credit for the new kindle for my 3 yr old so there goes that LOL! I am gonna wait to see how the ps4 performs but i have a feeling when the show releases in april I'm gonna pull the trigger!

I think I just got lucky that day! As far as the ps4 goes, Im not really that impressed. Madden is the only game I have just because Im crazy for the NFL! Havent bought madden in 4 or 5 years, been playing madden 05-06 on ps2. The controller feels good in my hand but not sure why we dont have the normal start n select? That options button is just off and my d-pad doesnt work in madden as far as moving my players? Plus the controller cord is way to short and the charge only lasts a couple hrs-ish. So far my ps4 gets a 6 out of 10 and madden 5 out of 10! Good article!
Buys only madden(the least of the next gen games), then complains that next gen isn't impressive. People will people.

Now i am not saying next gen is impressive. The only things impressive to me have been Killzone and NBA 2k but only when looking at the visuals. Everything else has been meh but like the reviewer mentioned, there is lots of potential to be had. I think, next year will bring more impressive games. if you're an MLB fan, you will have to wait for 2 more years to get a true next gen mlb game. I just don't see the ps4 version of mlb being radically different from the ps3 from a gameplay standpoint.

Lol people act like the Xbox doesn't play video games! When in reality, as powerful as the PS4 is, the graphical difference is marginal if any. One could argue that Ryse and Forza look better than anything on the PS4 currently. People say that the Xbox one features are "fluf" but the best thing about the voice kinnect and TV integration to me is the ease and quickness it allows you to get into your GAMES. Xbox is truly a next gen device that can do things no other system before could do. It has turned my first generation HDTV to a smart TV and I am enjoying the hell out of Ryse, Madden, 2k, and Killer Instinct as well. I am a 36 year old family man so I have to justify major purchases from a family perspective and the Xbox one has the whole family in mind. I will be getting a PS4 down the line for the show, uncharted, and infamous but really the ps4 is just a souped up ps3. As someone said earlier if you currently own a PS3 or Xbox360 is it really worth dropping 500 bucks right now to play Killzone and next gen 2k (which is the exact same as xbone version)? The PS3 heavily touted its ability to play Blu-rays but that didnt make it any less or more a gaming machine!

I'm not trying to put down the PS4, I'm just defending the Xbox one and challenging the notion that the PS4 is the only option for "serious gamers" or that the Xbox one neglected gamers because it has non-gaming features intergrated in it. Don't knock the features if you have not tried them because its hard to appreciate untill you have it in your living room. I didn't think I would use voice kinnect at all but it truly is innovative and makes it hard to go back to the 360/ps3.

I agree 100 percent! Like I said I dont know what I was doing before I got my Xbone, but I never want to go back. Just like before I got my Iphone I dont remember what the hell I was doing, but I never want to go back. Xbox like it or not has changed console gaming forever.

I've played both and went xbox one. To me the only thing the PS4 has over the XB1 is the show and after June I am done playing that game. The XB1 feels more next gen, the voice commands are amazing, snapping with games and most of the games I play are cross platform. Since buying the XB1 I haven't regretted it at all

I'm not the biggest baseball fan but my decision (which console to buy) will be based on which game - Forza or MLB The Show - I want to play more.
...we held several meetings to discuss the future of the franchise. After going through those meetings, it became very clear that the vision I had for the game was different from where the leadership wanted to take it. I parted ways with EA shortly after...

I have both consoles and I do not regret my purchases. I find myself not playing as much now because, to me, the differences between current and next gen is marginal. The potential, as said previously is incredible, but as for now, I cant justify a purchase for someone who is not a Tech Head as myself. I tell my friends that my opinion is based on a different perspective than most folks. I tried the XB1 fluff and bells and whistles.. can take it or leave it. I like the ps4 as well. Both play games well and based on what you are looking for and the exclusives, you cannot go wrong with either system. But I would second the motion that most casual gamers wait. As I told a friend.. the next gen does minimally, what the last gen does at its maximum. Last gen will probably not get any better than now. but that's ok. if thats what you prefer.
