What Are the Top 5 Olympic Games of All Time?

If you hadn't noticed already, we're a little light on the Olympic video game releases this year. Unless Nintendo's range of consoles have a place in your home, you're going to struggle to satisfy your cravings. Looking back is the only option, and I'm warning you, it's a bumpy ride.

Sure, there have been some great Olympic-themed games over the years. Konami's Track & Field is a particular highlight, as is Epyx's Summer Games I & II. But today, we're focusing on the official video games of the Olympics. They're here in all their button-mashing glory, and we're going to delve through the mediocrity to find five titles that have unexpectedly found themselves in medal contention.

Oh, and the Mario & Sonic series gets just one entry. Otherwise, we'd have a biased list on our hands.

I guess it's not an Olympic game but track and field 2000 on N64 was a great game (I was like 9 at the time but enjoyed a ton)

Not an official IOC game, but for the genre, this is the one I played the most:

Summer Games 1984 for Commodore 64 was my all time favorites.

I remember playing the Lillehammer 94 game for Sega Genesis. It was insanely hard, and I would finish last or near last in nearly every event. It was decently fun, though, despite the difficulty.

Again not IOC but track and field for playstation 2 was that competitive stuff that had us with our index fingers in our shirts mashing buttons until we threw controllers across the room. One of the best games ever

Not an Olympics Game but World Class Track Meet along with the Power Pad. I remember having a bunch of friends over and running in place furiously stomping our feet on the pad.

I used to own a track and field arcade machine. We used to have a blast with that. Q

The correct answer to this is Capcom Gold Medal Challenge '92 for NES.

Another vote for the Epyx Summer Games series, Summer Games II being the best of the bunch IMO. They were exceptional. Probably really dating myself here, but the Atari 2600 Decathlon was pretty memorable too, and a joystick breaker!!

The Epyx game series were all really awesome fun games. My friends and I played the heck out of all of them, especially remember surfing and hacky contests on the California Games.
