Honestly if they released a new one and it's a half step improvement like 23 was, that's gonna be rough. I know they have their diehard cult fanbase that will play TGC Tours or make courses all year round, but a new game like that would be pointless. I still enjoy the gameplay, but if we are headed to the next gen of consoles with a game that is still basically a PS4 game it's gonna be crazy.

If there's no new engine, what would a "new" release even mean here at this point?

Just charging for content all over again?

(that should have been applied to the existing game for free)

One thing I am thinking that would be a new feature in 2K25/6 would be cross-platform societies, and that was hinted at by a NextMaker in a different Discord discussion.

That's the key--feature. Young people will get next year's version of a game just because it's shiny and new (and mom or dad is probably paying for it). But I reckon older people are most (not all) of the ones playing golf games, and to spend our money, we need something new in the way of features--not solely the new version of next year's same 'ole game.

Cross-platform societies would indeed be a new feature, but we can't get PGA Tour 2K23 with a title change to 2K25/6 and Tiger Woods on the cover wearing his new Bonefish Grill shirt and hat. I hope 2K and HB Studios know how much we care and that we're actually rooting for them.

Oh, I'll have to hop in and take that!

I'd love to see actual Tiger Woods content...like replaying historic moments from his career or something like that. I want some challenges like EA has, where you can earn sponsorships and gear by beating a variety of tasks and objectives.

I have been a tiger fan my whole life, but I do have to wonder how much he would move the needle with really young people and whatever demographic they are hoping to grow the base here

I think that's what they tried to do with TopGolf in 2K23, and they didn't really do...anything with it. One TopGolf location with very limited modes...it could be really fun, but it seems it was just added because they could.

Same with some of the "influencers" they made playable in the game, as well as celebs that aren't actual golfers at all.

I think the main thing that golf in general is doing to capture younger crowds is YouTube content now. Channels like No Laying Up, Good Good, and such...I could see them maybe connecting with those groups in the next game. But even then, I have no idea what they'd do with them. If they stick to the 2K23 way of doing it, they'd just make them playable and leave it at that.

And Tiger still seems to bring eyeballs...I've seen more online about him at Royal Troon today than any of those who are actually in the lead.

Is there any golfer that retired at their prime. That ridiculous idea was rampant a decade ago. Every elite should quit when on top to be remembered better I guess?

Tiger is almost the same as being retired right now, he has played the 4 Majors and only one other tournament, and he withdrew in the second round. He's at the point that he's playing them just because he's exempt. John Daly was exempt too and tried to play, but at least he played regularly in the fat belly tour.

Take Two released a quarterly report today...the equivalent report back in 2022 listed PGA 2K23 as an upcoming title in their pipeline.

In today's report, there was no specific mention of a new PGA 2K game. But there is a general mention of 22 games being in the pipeline from their "Immersive Core", which includes PGA 2K due for release from Fiscal 2025-2027. I feel this info was already out there, as it seems similar to what they released earlier during a different report earlier this year.

All that to say...a new PGA 2K has still not yet been officially announced.

Yeah, unless they are using the bold strategy of hiding a new game release from their shareholders, it's not coming this year.

I am still not convinced they won't drop a game in October of this year, since it does sound like it'll be on the same engine again. So I'd think the earliest we hear anything is next month.

I'm just speculating here, but could there be any marketing advantage to be gained by announcing PGA TOUR 2K25 next week as the FedEx Cup playoffs get underway? It would be either that, or announce it the final week of the playoffs, but I think there would be more attention on it if it was to be announced on the first day of the playoffs next week.🤔
