I would like to get this conversation started for a couple of different reasons. I skipped out on last year's version of Tiger but broke down and bought into this game as Augusta National is an instant buy for me. I'm loving the career mode as well but I look for more online multiplayer aspects in my sports games. I ran a coach mode dynasty on NCAA 11 into year 5 before turning it over after interest waned (we really only ever had 5-6 active members at any given time with 4 of those being the hard core). However, I feel there are enough people here to get a league going for TW12. I did a search through the forums and did not see anything but I know the guys over at Utopia have ran leagues in the past along with one at VSN. I am working on drawing up a point system for the league but I'd like to know what the consensus is on a few things.
Namely, what difficulty level? I know there are only 2 choices with Tour Pro and Tournament for a league. Second, I believe a cap on the total points a golfer should have should be in place. I have tested this out with my own created golfer and it is possible to remove XP from areas to bring it down to a lower level which is good. There are four categories with Power, Accuracy, Control, and Putting. We could allow 300?? total points over the four categories and distribute those at will. A balanced golfer may choose to be at 75 in each category while another may max out one category. Obviously we'd have to agree on a fair level and it may even be dependent on the difficulty we select in the first place.
Structure wise, I liked the setup of the VSN league I was in for TW10. The commish built a schedule of events which had their own real time dates for them. Events carried different weights with four majors as well. Players then played with at least one fellow member of the league and recorded their scores for the event. Points were given out for each event and a champion was named at the end. I'd like to see it a little more fleshed out with a wider variety of events...maybe some team action with 2 vs. 2 or bestball but you get the general idea.
Just tossing this out there...I don't know if it has been tried here or not. But figured it was worth a look...
Edit: While I play on the PS3, there is little reason this could not cross platforms to the 360 as long as all the settings are keyed the same way.
