I have the sound going from the PS3 to an amplifier via an optical cable.
The problem is definitely the sound cutting in and out and the amplifier continually blinks the "5:1 Surround" light repeatedly as it gets and then loses the sound signal.
This doesn't happen on other games and is worse in particular places within TW14.
For example, I have found that the first hole in the Legends challenge—especially once onto the green—will generate this stuttering of the sounds effects.
Is anyone else who has noticed this problem also using optical cables for sound or is it possible that folks using HDMI for sound are immune?
I noticed this yesterday as well, as was made more prevalent since i was playing without the announcers. It was annoying.
On a side note, can someone please tell me if its possible to play a game with friends (not online, at your house) on anything other than practice mode??? I dont understand this, I looked everywhere. It has no announcers and no crowd and makes it lame. Unless im missing something, why the hell would EA do this??? It makes me want a refund.
From EA_SeanWilson's last response, it appears that at least this issue is being looked at.
It really is a game killer for me. Having ambient sound effects constantly going on and off in a golf game is something I've never had to deal with.

"Ok, your last message has been forwarded to QA to try and repro an ill add that bit of info. Trust me, I'd much rather say we found the problem and fixed it. I just don't know at this point."

Received a message from EA_SeanWilson today. (pasted below)
So, despite numerous complaints of audio problems with Dolby / DTS surround, it appears nothing is going to be done.
The gaming experience is totally ruined with this constant sound stuttering. I am absolutely disappointed.
I am curious, though, if the digital download version suffers from the same issue or if it's somehow disc-based?

we are just not seeing these issues on our side and therefore it is unlikely this will be fixed for the patch. we can't fix what we can't see. I'm sorry this is happening to you and some others but at this moment we're stuck. It's weird how Sony didn't see this when they tested it and not everyone with a Ps3 is seeing it.
I have had to take back my copy of the historic edition and get a new one and it still skips. How can they say they cant see it its all over the internet on game sites. Skipping sound on any game will drive you nuts. I wish I knew how to make a youtube video to show them. I think they know but cant fix it. If anyone can make a youtube video do it and say watch this EA now what you going to do? Fix it or give me my money back.

They WANT to fix it, but how can they if they can't reproduce it on their end? Furthermore, how come Sony did not see this either? IMO, it comes down to the fact that neither EA, Sony, nor MS can test for ALL types of console environments because they do not have access to user's systems to test to find out how to reproduce these kinds of issues. Who knows what you have downloaded or installed in the past that might be conflicting with the sound of the game. Heck, I bet if someone offered to send their PS3 to Sean and let them figure out what is going on, they would appreciate that, but I am not sure if they can legally do such a thing.
I had a serious freezing issue on my 360 version of TW13. I could not start the game if I was logged in to XBox Live and EA. I could start the game otherwise. Contacted the Dev Team and they could not figure out what the cause was, so like you guys, I was terribly frustrated. I was about to buy a new 360 for the living room and decided to pull the trigger. I took the previous 360 to the living room and put the new one in my office and reloaded all my profiles and game saves from a USB stick. Never once had another issue with freezing on TW13 logged in or not. I never did find out what the cause of the freezes were and have zero freezing or sound issues with TW14. Do you see how random things like this can impact how a game performs and how difficult this would be for EA or any game developer to track down?
I see your point but we are talking about the mighty EA SPORTS. iF i was on the tiger team and had over10 websites and over a 100 people say the same thing about the game I would have a team member's but on a plane or bus to the nearest game store to meet with a person with a system that has this problem.I would give him a system on loan and start testing back at EA. Heck I will unhook my PS3 take it to my local gamestop and meet one. I have played EA golf from the start and its a nice game to play when you get burned out on the fast pace games.
