For those of you like myself that find the analog swing too easy or clumsy I suggest you give the 3 click swing a go. At first I thought it would be too easy or primitive lol ..... but man did it ever change the game for me.

Gameplay and fun factor are near perfect using 3-Click. If your timing is off even slightly you get punched in the face for it. Making the perfect swing is far more rewarding using 3-Click and for me seems more immersive for some reason.

I recommend 3-Click over analog with all aids turned off and if you want to up the difficulty even more just change swing difficulty to hard (I don't recommend this at first) I went from finishing a round with a -25 to finishing with a +5 when I changed to 3-Click. Much more realistic results and for me 3-Click is the new sim.

ps. putting is much, much better with 3-Click imo.

I can see putting as I hate hate hate putting mechanics with stick but how is the hardest settings for analog easy for you guys? Haha. I have been all over the course using analong.

Will deff give this a go though.

My BEST round so far in my career has been 2 over with the hardest settings, I have no idea how some are finding it so easy.

Couldn't agree more. 3-click game-play is rock solid. The punishment for missing the sweet spot is spot on. As you crank up the swing difficulty, not only is the strike window smaller, but you are punished *more* for missing it, and the meter moves a LOT faster. The scores are much realistic and the satisfaction of nailing a shot is completely addictive.

I totally agree. I know people are knocking this as being primitive but I think it is still the most realistic. If you are early or late on your release you get the correct miss. This is much like how the real swing is. My only knock is on putts where the meter blocks the hole on the screen, that is slightly annoying.

Agreed! Primative it is but still the challenge that the game should bring you! Animations are downright silly..they would throw me off the course if I acted that way. Somehow I liked it in Hot shots which as silly as it looked was pretty downright Sim but here it just looks bad. Maybe because it has PGA feel to it. They should have eased up on that.

I've always struggled with what was originally called the mouse swing. Being an old fogey, I was brought up on the three click swing. I find it to be excellent and smooth. In the past, the power bar could stick on TW and then the ball went everywhere. I'm now playing(as suggested) with the green grid off and that really changes the game. I have reservations about this as the hardware isn't powerful enough to accurately draw all the counters and undulations accurately or at a suffiently high res, but it's finally a challenge. I shot +1 in my first round at Troon which was about right. Also Troon is the hardest course I've played so far with it's hard greens and difficult Chips and runs from over 200 yards.
Finally the game is a challenge.
Yes, for younger players, the three click has always been a solid system when implemented properly. Rm has it bang on.

After being hesitant about trying the 3-click I went at it this morning on the toughest settings. All I can say about it is IT'S THE TRUTH!!!

Hate to admit it as an "old timer that grew up on Golf games using 3-click", but I am a believer. Three Click on these settings is really tough....

Swing Mechanic: 3-click

Swing Difficulty: Hard

Spin Control: Off

Green Grid: On

Putt Read: Off

Aiming Arc Off

Zoom: Off

Wind Gust: On

Lie Effect: Advanced

Shot Shaping: Off

Struggling to break par because the jump in difficulty from Default 3-click to Hard is a pretty good jump. I am FINALLY sweating bullets again on each shot!

Finally started my Career and played the first round on Tour mode with everything as hard as it can be other than leaving the green grid on (the second we have hardware where you can actually read a green like IRL, I'm all about turning it off. We're not even close, IMO). I shot a 67 on Tour mode in the first round.

Moved to 3 click for round 2. Shot a well-earned 71. It was such a different round. I had to respect the course, so to speak, and play golf the way it's meant to be played, away from hazards and such. Played the front in 1 over, then ran off three straight birdies at 10, 11 and 12 and thought I figured it out. Well, after a par at 13, went bogey, bogey, bogey before making a great shot at 17 for a birdie and making a very long putt on 18 for another.

You really have to focus when using this interface. The front was such a "quiet" 9, with mostly pars and one bogey as I was feeling my way around the course and focusing on hitting my spots. After I let my guard down when I made the 3 birdies, it was a struggle to get that focus back after the 3 bogeys but I made two great swings to pull off a 71.

This is what golf needs to be like and ideally, what Tour mode feels like with the analog swing (mainly to make online play more interesting) but offline I think I'm going to stick with this going forward. One of the positive side effects of this interface is how much more interesting it became to shape your shots. On paper, it might seem too easy because you just have to move the left stick to the desired fade or draw, and then hit your spots on the 3 click swing.

Let me tell you, there is nothing easy about shaping your shots in 3 click. However, what it did do is make the risk/reward more enticing. When you do pull off a shot you want to hold up against the wind or bend it a bit around the dogleg, it's an unbelievable feeling. You can just as easily overcook the shaping of the shot or not get enough and end up in trouble. I never got this feeling using the analog shot shaping because the diagonal movement was way too unreliable so I just tried to hit straight shots. I know you can turn shot shaping off on Tour mode but then it becomes way too easy because hitting a straight shot is way too easy.

On 3 click, it's challenging but attainable. In a perfect world, there would be lobbies and tournaments online where we could play on the Expert swing difficulty for 3 click.

Just played my first Career Tournament using the settings above. +10 on my first round and +1 on the second. Not since TW2000 for the PC (pre-patch) have I ever sweated bullets on virtually every shot. I am sure as I become more familiar with the interface, I will get better at it and score below par on some rounds, but not EVERY round on even the hardest TOUR Custom settings. I will be playing this in my Career and Online Tournaments until I see what Justin and Team have done to improve the TOUR mode playability. For me, Custom 3-Click brings all of the course and hazards into play and THAT is what gets us closer to a "simulation" feel IMO.

EDIT: and I missed my first cut by a 132nd place finish at +11.....

3-click really brings the game alive for me. I've dialled back the swing difficulty from "hard" to "normal" and it's still a challenge. I was consistently 10+ over par on the hardest difficulty. I'll go back to it later once I've plucked up the courage . It's such a pity that nobody seems to be playing 3-click / classic ranked matches. I can't seem to find any no matter the time of day. Fortunately there are classic style tournaments. Would love to see a dedicated tour / league for 3-clickers.

I've just been using Tour with Jiminez and I still haven't shot anything too great. Nice to know that this is a good option if the game becomes easy for me.
