Looks like Edmonton is doing well as well. I wonder how Ozolinch will do in Edmonton.

That is quite possible knowing Kovalchuk.

                      NHL News Wire

                      Plummeting Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins have dropped 6 of their last 10 games after winning 11 games in a row and have now fallen to 4th in the Eastern Conference as the New York Rangers have gone 6-3-1 in their last 10 games, moving into first in the division and the Eastern Conference with a record of 29-15-5.

                      Rising Stars

The Dallas Stars have won 9 of their last 12 games and have moved into 8th in the Western Conference Standings. The Stars have been led in scoring all season by FA signing Peter Forsberg who has tallied 30 goals and 28 assists in 51 games.

                      Just Short of History

Star Sniper Ilya Kovalchuk fell just shy of reaching the 50 goal mark in just 50 games as he tallied 47 markers, falling just 3 short of the prolific acheivment only reached by Brett Hull, Maurice Richard, Mike Bossy, Mario Lemieux, and Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky tallied his 50th goal in 39 games and his 61st goal in his 50th game in the 81-82 and 83-84 seasons.

Unofficial acheivers of the milestone are Alexander Mogilny, Cam Neely, and Jarri Kurri who scored their 50 goals before their 50th games, although thier teams had played more games due to injuries.

                      How's THAT for informative?

Pens Add Grit With Signing Of McCarty

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced the signing of the fiercly competitive RW Darren McCarty tonight at a post-game news conference after a 1-0 loss to the Devils. The Pens have also reported that McCarty will play on the fourth line on the left side of Eric Christensen while George Laraque will remain on the right side. The line should give the Pens the hard edge many believed the team lacked as the NHL post season is getting closer and closer.

"The post season is about grit and determination as much as it is about skill. We obvously have the skill, but we really feel we've done ourselves a favor with the signing of Darren. This line will be tough to play against with Laraque also on the other side", said Pens captain Sidney Crosby who hasn't scored a goal in 7 games.

The 35 year old McCarty signed for 1 season at 800,000 USD and has totalled 126 goals and 160 assists in 742 games over his career.

Maxime Talbot will be scratched to make room for Darrens arrival to the Pens.

The Pens are 2nd in the Eastern Conference, but are struggling, going just 4-8-0 in their last 12 games since winning 11 consecutive games in the month of December.
