Skellefteå AIK - NHL 11

Skellefteå AIK has joined the NHL. After Minnesota Wild owner, Craig Leipold sold the team. They will move to Minnesota to take over. This will be the second team Minnesota has lost in the NHL. First, they lost the Minnesota North Stars who moved to Dallas. Now they will be losing the Wild. Players will have a choice of becoming free agents or retiring.

Chuck Fletcher Steps Down as General Manager; New GM Announced

Chuck Fletcher has stepped down as the General Manager of Skellefteå AIK. This comes after the Minnesota Wild were sold. Chuck will retire like his father Cliff did in 2008.

With this comes the news of the new General Manger. This former player is a Swede. Finishing his NHL career with 564 goals and 1349 points as a member of the Nordiques, LEAFS and the Canucks. MATS SUNDIN!

" I'm just happy to be back in the NHL. I'm hoping I can make this team a contender. I never won a cup in my playing career maybe as a GM I'll finally hoist a cup." Sundin said during an interview.

Players to be announced soon

Mats Sundin will announce the roster and schedule shortly. Mats Sundin has said that he wont be signing any players on the current Skelleftea roster except Adam Larsson.

Your offense looks pretty good, might want to add a star player to re-build around. Your defense is a little bland as well, might want to pick up a free agent defensemen with a big shot. Your goaltender is alright, nothing too great though. Good luck to you.

There's not much in the free agency for a defensemen. I'm hoping there will be a lot of great players after this season in the free agency. I'm trying for a star player but most of my team has no trade value and I'm not giving away my first rounder.

Skelleftea lost their first game to the Carolina Hurricanes in Helsinki Finland. Turnovers played a huge part in this. The second goal by Eric Staal was put in by Robert Nilsson into his own net. Havlat got 2 goals in 37 seconds to tie it up in the third. Vesa Toskala attempted a pass to Tyler Cuma, but it went off his skate right to Bouchard who put it in. Tlusty deked passed the defenders and sniped it over the glove of Toskala. Bates Battaglia made it a one goal game with a shorty at 14:52. Skelleftea had a powerplay at the end, but could not capitalize.

Bates Battaglia was an assist shy of a Gordie Howe hat trick. 17:13 into the first he dropped the gloves with Patrick Dwyer and kept him out of the game with a broken nose.
