Chicago Blackhawks
2009-2010 NHL Champions

Author's Note:
Well... got NHL 11 last week and have been playing it since... love it! This game is addicting, and in my opinion, one of the best sport video games I've ever played. Anyway, I've decided to start a franchise here on OS and noticed that the Hockey section is pretty busy. Raised and grew up in Chicago, and finally witnessed a championship with my Chicago Blackhawks last year. That has been my inspiration to start a 'chise and TRY to repeat. So I hope every one enjoys this, and I hope to keep the Stanley Cup trophy here in Chicago .

Game: NHL 11
Sliders: TNKNGM All-Star Sliders (good job with them, man)
Roster: Latest Update
Personal Goal: Make the best possible 'chise, and just have fun!

ENJOY EVERYONE!

Blackhawks ready to defend title

Article written by: miggy1212

Head Coach Joel Quenneville stated Tuesday night that his Chicago Blackhawks were ready to defend their 2009-2010 Stanley Cup Championship, despite the pressure the media is putting on them.

"Their ready. I've talked to a couple of players during the off-season, and their all just ready to get back out there, defend the title as they say," head coach Joel Quenneville told the press after Tueday's practice, "They know there is going to be a lot of pressure put on them by the fans and the media, but their ready for anything, including repeating."

Chicago didn't make too much noise in the off season, except signing Fernando Pisani to an 3-year deal. They believe the squad that won last year's Stanley Cup can win it again this year. Despite losing their starting goalie Antti Niemi to San Jose, they believe young Corey Crawford can come in and create an impact.

"Corey (Crawford) doesn't have much experience, but we believe in the organization that he can be a special one," head coach Joel Quenneville spoke to the media about now starting goalie Corey Crawford. "We don't expect him to come out and dominate right away, but as the season progresses, the improvement will show in him I believe."

Led by their captain Jonathan Toews, the Blackhawks once again should be looked at as favorites in the Western Conference, and also in the Central Division. The Blackhawks open their season up on the road, going up against the Colorado Avalanche on October 7th.

Re: miggy1212 presents an Chicago Blackhawks Franchise

Game One: Chicago 0, Colorado 2

Denver, CO - The Chicago Blackhawks opened the season in Colorado, and didn't exactly open the season on a good note, getting shutout 2-0. No scoring happened in the 0-0, as both goalies, Craig Anderson and Corey Crawford, were both excellent. But the Avalanche struck first in the second, as Chris Stewart scored but at first the referees erased the goal, but after reviewing it, the goal stood giving the Avalanche an 1-0 lead. And once again Colorado scored in the third period, with Paul Stastny scoring on a deflected goal, first shot from John-Michael Liles, and Stastny completely fooled Corey Crawford, who was expecting the shot from Liles. Colorado managed to hold on for the 2-0 win, sending some shock waves around the league as the defending champions were shut-out in the opener.

In his debut as the now starting goalie, Corey Crawford played exceptionally well, as he never got any help from the offensive side.

Looks like the Stewart-Stastny-Kariya line was tough on you. Good luck from here on out
