Eduardo Rodriguez pitched 6 innings of one run ball, to earn his 10th win of the season. Jonathan Schoop, Miguel Cabrera, Spencer Torkelson, and Austin Meadows had RBIs for the Tigers. Gregory Soto earned his league leading 24th save of the season.
TIGERS 5 TWINS 3 MAY 31, 2022
Detroit won game two of the series, 5-3. Casey Mize went 6 1.3 innings to earn his 9th win of the season. Javier Baez, Miguel Cabrera, Riley Greene, and Robbie Grossman had RBIs for the Tigers. Gio Urshela, Gary Sanchez, and Miguel Sano had solo home runs for the Twins.
TIGERS 3 TWINS 2 JUNE 1, 2022
Kyle Dutcher homered in the 7th, breaking a 2-2 tie. propelling the Tigers to a 3-2 win over the Twins in game three. Kyle Funkhouser earned the win in relief. Gregory Soto earned his 25th save of the season.
TIGERS 7 TWINS 6 JUNE 2, 2022
The Tigers had to come from behind, but they completed the sweep of the Twins with a 7-6 win. The Twins scored three in the first, on a Carlos Correa double, and a Jorge Polanco 2 run home run. Detroit trailed 5-1 going into the bottom of the 3rd. In the bottom half of the third, Jonathan Schoop hit a two run double to cut it to 5-3. Miguel Cabrera followed with a two run home run, to tie the game at 5.
Gio Urshela doubled home Correa in the 5th, to put the Twins back up 6-5. In the 6th, Cabrera and Spencer Torkelson hit back to back home runs, to give the Tigers a 7-6 lead. Matt Manning started, but lasted just 2 2/3 innings, allowing 5 runs. Wily Peralta earned the win in relief.
