Kyle Dutcher (24), Spencer Torkelson (31), and Jonathan Schoop (19) hit solo home runs, but it wasn't enough as the Cleveland Guardians beat the Tigers 4-3 in the first game of this three game series. Josh Naylor hit a 6th inning 2 run double that gave the Guardians the lead. Eduardo Rodriguez (14-1) took the loss, his first of the season.
Casey Mize allowed 1 run over 7 innings of work, earning his 15th win of the season, as the Tigers beat the Guardians 10-2, evening the series at a game apiece. Riley Greene (9), and Jeimer Candelario (18) homered. Candelario, Javy Baez, and Spencer Torkelson had a pair of RBI each.
Javier Baez (24) homered twice, and the Tigers hit 5 home runs overall, as they pounded the Guardians 12-2. Miguel Cabrera (23), Spencer Torkelson (32), and Riley Greene (10) also homered. Baez drove in 4 runs. Tarik Skubal allowed 2 runs in seven innings, earning his 15th win of the season.
The Tigers now head into the All Star Break. After the All Star Break, they will be home for a three game series against the Twins, followed by three games with the Padres.
