Prior to game one of the Mariners series, the Tigers placed pitcher Matthew Boyd on the 15-Day I.L. with a tender shoulder. Eduardo Rodriguez was recalled from his rehab stint in Toledo in a corresponding move.
The Tigers also recalled pitcher Tarik Skubal from his rehab assignment, and optioned pitcher Joey Wentz.
MLB Trade Rumors reports that the Detroit Tigers have been asking around on various right handed hitting corner outfielders, with the trade deadline 2 weeks away. They list Anthony Santander (.301, 18 HR, 48 RBI) of Baltimore, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (.302, 11 HR, 47 RBI) of Arizona, and Randal Grichuk (.244, 9 HR, 37 RBI) of Colorado as possibilities. Another possibility is the Marniners Teoscar Hernandez (.242, 12 HR, 37 RBI) who hit 4 HR in the series against the Tigers.
The Tigers head to Kansas City, for a four game series against the Royals (37-57.) Michael Lorenzen, Matt Manning, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Spencer Turnbull are the scheduled starters for the Tigers. Brad Keller, Brady Singer, Zack Greinke, and Jordan Lyles are scheduled for the Royals.
