Boston scored three runs in the 4th, including a 2 run home run by Rafael Devers, and held on to beat the Tigers 3-2. Jack Flaherty (5-1) allowed 3 runs in 5.2 innings taking the loss. Gleyber Torres went 2-3 with an RBI in the loss.
Detroit rebounded to take game two, 2-1. Reese Olson allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, but he took a no decision. Tyler Holton (1-0) earned the win in relief. Kyle Dutcher went 2-4 with the game winning RBI.
Jake Rogers (3) broke a 3-3 tie with a two run home run in the bottom of the 8th, leading the Tigers to a 5-3 win. Kyle Dutcher hit his league leading 22nd home run of the season. Trey Sweeney, and Mtt Vierling had RBI for Detroit. Casey Mize allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings.
The Tigers have an off day on Thursday, then head out on a six game road trip, beginning with three in Toronto (19-24) followed by three in St. Louis (21-23).
