The Detroit Tigers closed out the series in dominant fashion, defeating the Miami Marlins 9–2 on April 12, 2026, at Comerica Park, improving to 15–1 on the season.

Detroit got on the board in the 1st inning when Spencer Torkelson lifted a sacrifice fly to score Kevin McGonigle. The Tigers added on in the 3rd, as Colt Keith singled home Gleyber Torres, and Wenceel Perez followed with an RBI double to plate Torkelson for a 3–0 lead.

The offense broke the game open in the 5th inning. Perez delivered a two-run single to score Riley Greene and Torkelson, and later in the inning McGonigle ripped a bases-clearing double, bringing home Kerry Carpenter, Perez, and Parker Meadows to extend the lead to 8–0.

Miami got on the board in the 8th inning on an RBI single by Griffin Conine, but Detroit answered in the bottom half when McGonigle scored on a wild pitch to make it 9–1.

The Marlins added one more in the 9th on a sacrifice fly by Agustín Ramírez, but it wasn’t nearly enough.

Detroit piled up 9 runs on 9 hits, with McGonigle and Perez leading the way with three RBIs each, while Torkelson also drove in a run and scored twice.
