Try sending him to practice squad then resigning him from there to see what that does.Comment

Thats usually gives a 1 year contract I believe unless they are auto-signed at the end of the season, then that is usually a 2 year contract.Comment

Figured this one out yesterday. Make sure your practice sqaud is full. Once you sign free agents to fill it up, then that option will go away and the option for bonus will be back.

Re: resigning a player problem, please help asap
So... resigning breakdown:
When you are in the resign players tile, where your players up for resigning are listed in order of OVR and the week they are available to negotiate with, you will notice there is a desired contract length, desired total guaranteed money and desired total contract value.
E.g. $20million/4 years, $10million (guaranteed), Total=$30mil/4years
When you enter negotiations, you are offering salary & guaranteed per year for X number of years. So to match the above example of total contract you would offer:
E.g. $5million, $2.5million (guaranteed), 4 years, offer. $30mil total
Then £10million is taken off your funds (owner mode) and the player now has a contract worth $7.5million per year.
If the player is young, or higher Dyna-dev, or there is a real market for their position (still proving this one), they might not just blindly accept the desired contract, they might ask for more guaranteed money. So in the example above, increasing the guaranteed money to $3million means $12million total guaranteed. Guaranteed money is more desirable than salary, therefore it is possible to increase G-money and decrease salary to keep the total the same (therefore similar value against the cap) and they will resign,
E.g. $4.5million, $3million (guaranteed), 4 years, offer. $30mil total
If you offer under the desired number of years, as the player has less stability, you're going to have to pay a higher salary, G-money or both to get them to resign. If you offer over the desired number of years, the player is signing low but what if they might become a superstar, therefore you're going to have to pay a higher salary, G-money or both to get a longer contract.
E.g. LOLB Barr usually wants a $100mil/7 year deal. Great, but QB Bridgewater (due to the injury) generally wants $60-70mil/4-5 Year deal. If I want TB to resign to a 7 year deal, its not a case of just upping the number of years and leaving the same per year amounts in place. He is obviously valuable to the Franchise if I am giving him a 7 year deal so need to offer a higher total contract amount to reflect this.Comment

I've noticed that players will not sign for less years than asked for. No matter how much money you offer. EA has yet to acknowledge this issue. Makes it hard if you're in an online league and can only get 5-6 seasons out of a game. Of you allow 5 or 6 year deals, then there goes your FA market.

Are you playing as the owner? I bet it is because you have negative money. You probably have plenty of "cap room". I have had a hard time as the Saints because i keep going negative money which in turn i have no money to give as a bonus. I went ahead and moved the team to Mexico with a new stadium to try and generate money to sign players with bonuses.Last edited by frnkpw13; 10-07-2016, 03:28 PM.New Orleans Saints
