Re: The Long Snappers of the World Deserve Some Respect in Madden 19
What do you expect? What we see all year round isn't in the game. Gameplay things like a botched snap or a errant snap aren't in the game because it would be upsetting in a Madden tournament.
So, Madden isn't football as it caters to tourney play where the only mistakes are made by the one at the control.
EA hasn't ever considered setting up customization to where the game fits any type of player.
Franchise mode has been in need of so much depth, the starting point that EA put into their Head coach 09 game. I don't need mods on here telling me it's an old game and doesn't factor in to games today. Smh
No, it demonstrates what EA could do for Madden Franchise mode.
So things not being in the game is a long tradition of EA version of Pro Football*

Isn't that the point of having separate modes? Competitive should remove uncontrollable things like that happening. The problem to me is that some things like that seem predetermined before you snap the ball. You can tell when a punt or FG is about to be blocked because the game moves slightly different.

They aren’t in the game really because they don’t effect the outcome of anything. I asked Clint in my recent interview about botched snaps and it just didn’t seem like something he was interested in. Until they are a necessity there is no reason to put much work into them.

Yeah I saw the interview, the only thing I disagree with is that they should at least have a snap rating.
so even if u don't loose the ball the rating can at least mean high and low snaps which can affect timing. But not completely destroy game on any setting.

I usually end up cutting the long snapper on whichever team I use because it is a waste of a position in Madden. Would love to see them actually have some impact, gunners on kick coverage too (Mathew Slater is another player who is useless in Madden). I would love to see special teams actually matter outside of your kicker/punter. Botched snaps on punts/field goals, bad holds etc.

It really kills immersion. These guys are rated so low that it's not worth it to keep them, especially when any lineman (in the game) will do the snap just fine. It almost forces you to make the unrealistic roster move of releasing them.

Yet another reason you almost HAVE TO release the player
Re: The Long Snappers of the World Deserve Some Respect in Madden 19
The whole special teams system needs a reboot. There needs to be ratings and positions for long snappers and gunners. He can be a 50-60 overall sure, so he doesn't see the field elsewhere. Positionally, however, they should be in the 70's and up. Or make them a 70-80 whatever, but a huge dropoff is used elsewhere.
It would be like NCAA when you recruit an athlete. The guy could be a 75, but if you put him in the right position he may be an 80.

This is one of my biggest issues. Most teams have dedicated special teams players that actually contribute to their success. In Madden, any player can excel on special teams, any lineman can be a long snapper, any backup qb is the perfect holder and never makes mistakes.

Why not just determine accuracy and speed of the snap by how well you do on the kick meter?

You can add a second mini game that requires you to hit R2/RT when you press X/A for the accuracy meter? Then you'll have a separate input for snapping the ball?
Make it have several different speeds of snap and trajectories too. Knowing EA we'd get one bad snap animation and one good one lol.

Yes!! Long snappers need to be a position and more love given to the most underrated position in football. If you don't think ST's and LS's matter just ask the Chargers how ST's can doom a season. Remember the year the Chargers were #1 in both offense and defense but finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs because of their horrendous ST's?
Atlanta Braves
Atlanta Falcons
Auburn Tigers
Detroit Red Wings
Winnipeg Jets

At this point, I don't even think a "snapping" rating or trait is necessary to appease the hardcore crowd. I'd like to see Tiburon at minimum add the LS position, correct the position listing of all the tight ends and linebackers who should be long snappers, and finally require that a LS player fill the LS depth chart position.
Just adding that much will increase the challenge of roster construction in Franchise mode, and franchise players are the ones who care about long snappers at all anyway. Admittedly the following is just a hunch on my part, but I doubt the MUT crowd cares either way.
