I'm gonna give these a shot. I use classic hitting and Ive been having a problem with hitting HR's even with people like Pujols and Arod. I might put these in a play some spring training games tonight, if I can put down My Player...lol.

I remember your set from last year, I will give these a shot tonight.
I have yet to use classic hitting but I am not liking stick hitting so far this year.
What roster set are you using that has Alonso and Frazier for the Reds???
I am playing a whole season with the Reds and would love some rosters that had their prospects names. Do you have Chapman too??

How are you doing with hit variety? seems everything i hit is a weap blooper into centerfielder or a grounder up the middle, no hit variety at all.

I am using the Living Rosters from MLB Today loaded into my franchise with the exception of signing Joe Crede to play 3B. Don't know much about the Reds players (as if they are real guys or not). I just know this Alonso guy is kicking my a** lol.

Hit variety is very important to me and one of the goals of these sliders. I have seen fading shot down the line, doubles in the gap, triples in the corner, a monster foul ball off the facade in left field (see picture). You can't really see the ball, but it went off the brick where the Reds have their pennants.

No I didn't edit any names. I don't even know who the Reds have in real life. Votto is in Triple A for some reason.

This is a pretty decent set of sliders, in fact this is the set I am going to use in my season.
Using this set last night was the first time I have ever used classic hitting with a 2k game.
I loved it, the hitting variety is great. I actually had 5 extra base hits the first game I played.
Below are the two games I played.
Game 1
Cincy 6 LAD 4
I had 11 hits and acually hit 2 hrs!(Rolen, Hernandez)
The Dodgers had 12 hits and 1 hr(Either)
It was nice to be able to hit a ball hard for once.

Game 2
Cincy 3 LAA 4
I had 8 hits and 1 hr (Votto) I also hit 3 2bs.
The Angels had 13 hits and 1 hr (Napoli)
The game was tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the 9th when the Halos loaded the bases with no one out. I then struck out 2 batters but Hendrick lined a single up the middle to win the game.

Again this sliders have a great feel to them and I am really digging the classic hitting!

By the way I have no idea how you rosters have Alonso named, I downloaded the latest living rosters last night and he was not on them. He has never appeared in a MLB game so I dont know how his name could be in the game yet.

I have found that I get plenty of hit variety and the appropriate number of homers with CPU at 35/65 and me at 35/80. At any higher rating, I am getting 15 hits apiece and too many gappers/homers. Keeping power down a little helps a lot. My pitching sliders are much tougher, though.

Yea heis using classic.....My question is has Frazier played a game in MLB yet, I hadnt think he had, Im a mets fan but I grew up with Frazier, played him all my years in rec baseball and school baseball so I have been trying to follow him

Hey Jake.....Are you and Bull using left stick at all to influence hit? Also just wandering if you are getting k'd or if the classic hitting makes batting ultimately easier. I like the idea of classic...(I'm old school) but I want a challenge hitting as well. I really feel that is one of the major game breakers for baseball games now days. hitting becomes to easy. I'm not talking about getting base hits all the time...but making contact period. To me 95% of hitting is timing. That is why swing stick seems good. It just doesn't feel right IMO. So I am curious about classic again. Thanks guys...and I think this years game looks great and plays pretty good game. Last full 162 game season I finished was with High Heat years ago...This just may be the year!

What I have found with the left stick on classic hitting is that it's pretty ineffective unless you're trying to move a runner over by getting the ball to the right side of the infield.

If I am needing a long ball or something to drive to the outfield, I just get VERY selective and wait for something up and over the middle of the plate. When I really need a HR, I tend to get a little jumpy and I'll K a bit more (which is typical of power hitters).

I believe that classic hitting as it pertains to power numbers is a pure patience and zone issue this year. You need the power slider AT LEAST to 75 or 80 to get realistic power numbers. Your middle of the road guys will still run into mistakes and hit them out.

In my season with the White Sox, I've played 15 games or so. Some guys have one HR. Some have two. Konerko (power of 79 against R and 94 against L) has three. Carlos Quentin has 5 to lead the team.

I believe that the classic hitting is more realistic for this reason: in the real game, players talk about hitting homers within their normal swing. Home runs are hit as a result of getting a good pitch in the zone and not missing it. Mistake pitches are supposed to be crushed, as well. If you have a power hitter and you're raring back on the right stick every time in TC hitting, it doesn't seem as realistic. Contact hitters get homers by capitalizing on mistakes, within the scope of their normal swing. I have never believed in games with two swing types. Hitting homers should be based on plate discipline and good timing. The player's attributes will take care of the rest.

No I am not using the left stick hitting. I am noticing that I may have to tweak some sliders to make hitting harder. I've scored 10 or more runs in 3 games. I will probably up the pitch speed and lower the contact.

I've only played one game with the sliders from this morning, and it played pretty well. I was Kansas City and we played Spring training game against the Rockies. We lost 7-2. Rockies had 3 HR and 3 Dbls ...12 hits. We had No HR, and had 4 Dbls with I believe 8 hits. Grienke struck out 9 and gave up one HR. The other two were off of Farnsworth and B. Thompson. I didn't use left stick at all. Pitch counts and subs were right on IMO.
