    The little things thread

Can't believe no one has started it yet, so here goes:

The digital clocks in the stadiums actually work. I was playing SD at ARZ, game started at 3:00. As the game went on the clock kept moving, I could see it when I was at the plate. Game finished at 6:17.

Shadows creep across field differently in each stadium. Arizona goes left to right, Citi Field progresses across home plate to the outfield, etc.

I'm not sure if this was in 2k9, but I've seen fans dancing or showing off after they catch a foul ball, or if they were near someone who did. It's like they know their on camera.

I saw Angel Pagan doing a fist pump at 2nd base last night after hitting a double.

The manager taking the ball from the pitcher you are pulling and then handing it to the guy that is relieving him

The clouds also moved in the 2K9 demo, but never in the acutal 2K9 game. Glad to see it's back in 2K10 though.

Not a little thing, but the lighting in this game is outstanding. They really did a good job with progression.

Julio Lugo stole 2nd base on me earlier today, and when he popped up from his slide he jumped off the base by accident. Jeff Baker tried to tag him before Lugo got his foot back on the base, but was just a hair late. Pretty cool animation.

I have a video of it, but I wasn't able to upload it. Do you have to have xbox live gold to upload videos?

Edit: Also, Carlos Marmol and Geovany Soto did a jumping high five after Marmol shut the door against the Rangers tonight. It was pretty cool, especially since the pitcher and catcher ususally just shake hands.

                    Re: The little things thread

If you hit a hr into the bullpen, the pitchers sitting down will all duck down out of the way. It's pretty funny.

And I second the lighting, it's amazing to watch an afternoon game go to dusk. It's pure art.

I hit a homerun at Turner Field, and the Giant Coke Bottle in Turner Field had fireworks shoot up from it. I thought that was pretty cool.

When you rip one foul down the line, the batter sometimes cringes like the ball nearly hit the base coach.

I can't believe in the 3 days since it's release there are 11 posts in this thread, and 4-5 of them say "lighting"... good grief. I'm thinking about getting the game, but after last years week of playing I'm not sure If I should. This thread isn't helping. Come one boys! Convince me!

                            Re: The little things thread

To be honest, this not a "little things" focused game. And I'm cool with that. The big things are what matters and this game was so screwed up last year with the Big things that I am glad they did not focus on the little things.

Now, that's not to say there are not some cool little things in the game, they just did not focus on those things this year for good reason.

They focused on the "Big" things and did a pretty damn good job. This game does some things better than any sports game I have ever seen like...

                            Lighting
                            Pitcher/Batter gameplay
                            Commentary/Dynamic Commentary
                            Sabermetrics/Inside Edge
                            Banners/Statistics

They are on the right track here, this year they can focus on tightening up some things in the gameplay/franchise and worry about getting fancy with the little things after those are taken care of.

And by the way, The Show focuses a lot of time on "little things" They do it better than any sports game so it's not fair to compare this to the show because no sports game can compete with Sony in that catagory, for now at least.

Once they iron out all the gameplay issues then they can begin to add the little things like the show has been doing for years. Still on the fence on this game and I'm just going to keep reading the impressions hoping I can get my baseball fix.
