    Franchise Question: 162 Games?

    What's up guys,

I just have a basic question and I bet you all a lot of people have asked the same question, but do you guys play all 162 games or how do you guys do it?

For some reason I set my mind every franchise I start to playing 162 games, but it's tough, very tough and I end up simming some games and by the time I realize it I feel like I am not in command of my team any more. Anyone else feels this way?

I love this game, but 162 games is a lot especially when you want to go multiple seasons with an organization, so my question is simple; How do you guys do it?

    Hope to see some feedback!

PS. What sliders do you think are the best?

For me, its the save feature. I can always save in the middle of a game when I feel tired or when something comes up. With that feature, my season goes by fast without me knowing it. I like playing at my own pace. You don't even realize it.

I play them all, sim all the minor league games. I'd feel cheated if I missed a game, I want to make sure that I'm in control of my franchise so I play them all. As a result I'm probably not going to get to play as many seasons as I want but oh well.

Imo PsychoBulk's sliders are the best.

        Re: Franchise Question: 162 Games?

For me, there's two things that keep me from getting bored playing all 162 games.

        1) I want to know what I can do, not what the CPU can do. I want the wins and stats to reflect my performance, not a mix of my performance and simming.
        2) I usually am in a rush to finish the regular season to find out how each player fares. Can I get Dempster or Harden the Cy Young? Will Soriano or Ramirez break 40 HRs? WIll any of my guys challenge for the batting title?

With those goals, I don't get bored. But for people who don't mind simming, I can see why they might get bored. If I started simming, I'd lose interest and probably sim more just to get to the post season or failing making the playoffs, to start over.

Once you get half way through the fun really starts.

The first season is always the best for me as the rosters are accurate. The second season starts to bother me as the amount if ficticious player movement lands players all over the map. A couple seasons down the road you start to see your prospects develop and start playing against prospects. For me this is the kicker. It's an arduous journey but well worth it. Never sim any games where you have players you want to eventually anchor your rotation or develop into a superstar. So if your franchise has Josh Vitters playing everyday then you need to play all his AB's. If Mark Pawelek is starting then start his games to rekindle his prospect status!

            Best of luck.

Is there an option for a shorter season, like 20, 40, 80 games?
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

I got the hankering to play some baseball again after I gave away my copy of MLB 2k9, so I picked this up on PS2...

I'll at least CONTROL all of my games. You can get though games pretty quickly with the manager mode. Play the interesting games, manage the ones that really aren't. The manager mode is a nice compromise between playing and simming.

I'll tend to play every game, but I haven't (up til now) found the right team for my chise.

Now I'm with the Phillies and I'm enjoying it.

I like to see my stats and not ones that the AI has done. I'm going to try really hard to complete at least one year before MLB 10 comes out.

                        Definately.

Having just gone past the all-star break the races really now start to take shape

I try and keep up with the real schedule, minus real life rainouts and such.

Some may call this cheese, but, if I'm in a 3 or 4 game losing streak, I'll sim the next couple games, and waddayouknow-------now a new win streak starts.....lol.....

Time constraints prevent me from playing every game. But, since right now I'm in a tight race for the AL Central lead w/Detroit, every game matters. So I'm really trying to finish every game and make the playoffs. (I'm 10 GB in the wildcard, so I have to win the division.)

I play the first game of every series and sim the rest. This give me a good balance of still playing quite a few games, but still getting through the season quicker so I can have multiple seasons under my belt in a quicker amount of time. I like the off season stuff and developing prospects and playing with them so while I would still have fun paying every single game this gives me a bit more fun without feeling like I have lost control of my team by simming for several weeks without playing.

It is whatever makes it the most fun for you though that matters. Seems like most in this thread have said they prefer playing every game, so that is cool. I often think about doing so, but tend to go back to doing it the way I am now. One game pers series. By picking the first game it allows me to play using different pitchers all the time.
