Year 1 complete(possible spoilers)..?'s feel free to ask

WARNING!!! As I'm posting I may or may not post something that you may consider a spoiler, so please do not read further if you're concerned. I'll try to remember to use spoiler tags if I feel that something could "ruin" the anticipation/fun/excitement for someone.

    -------------------------------

Completed my first season in the Show. Little later than I anticipated due to a saving glitch(the glitch was me), that caused me to lose about a month of the season and have to replay.

In any event, I have finished and thought that much like last year, I'd post some tidbits in here about the progress of my offseason and answer any questions people may have about the offseason. Again, I'm at the end of year 1, so if you want to know about the budget problem in year 4 or whatever, you'll have to wait a few more months.

First bit of news...Tony La Russa left me high and dry for Florida. I offered him $2M more a year than they did, but I guess he's had enough of St.Louis.

Off to search for a new coach, with the possible candidates I'm looking at being:

oh and Dave Duncan retired and I fired my hitting coach. Spending more time on finding managers/coaches than I am resigning key players.

BTW..I wish there was a way to promote coaches, instead of having to fire and then resign.

I finished 2 GB of the Brewers for the central division crown going 85-77. Florida finished 20+ games behind the Phillies with 60 something wins...don't remember exactly.

Did you see a ridiculous amount of appearances by relief pitchers? because in mine i had plenty of teams having guys appear between 90-120 times.

              yes.

Rockies' Buchholz appeared in 123 games.

How did your player stats look? Which sliders (if any) were you using, what did you enjoy over MLB "09" & what from "09" did miss most (again, if any)?

Player stats looked fine to me, outside the excessive amount of game appearances made by relievers. 52 homers by A-Rod was league tops, batting averages seemed fine, had 3 20-game winners, Broxton's 50 saves were ML tops.

                  I don't use sliders.

Too be honest, there isn't anything from '09 that I missed. IMO, while the game has hiccups, its still far superior to last year's title which I didn't think would happen.

Restrictive contract negotiations have ended...Pujols has decided to test the free agent market.

Countryboy, let me re-phrase my question a bit... How did YOUR, non slider tweaked player stats look? Were your HR, 2B's & "K" totals online league averages/typical player yearly results?

All-Star level on both sides of the ball?

I've always appreciated your contribution to these boards, thanks in advance ;-)

Imo the relief appearances get thrown off because of the way managers use their pen. I've noticed they'll bring a set up guy in the 9th to get 1 hitter out and then they'll bring their closer in to get the last two. Has anyone else noticed this? It happens a lot and it's annoying. Not only that if a closer comes in to a 5-3 game and he gives up a run they'll pull him and not let him get the save.

I've lowered the manager hook to 4 to try and fix this but it's not working.

I haven't noticed this but I have noticed that most of the time I'll see the same 1 or 2 guys every game of the series. Versus Detroit I saw Ryan Perry and Joel Zumaya every game. Against Seattle its always Brandon League.

I played a game against the Angels, and with a one run lead they used 3 different pitchers in the 9th, none of them their closer. He didn't come in until the 11th. 2 pitchers pitched in all 3 games of the series.
