Re: I cannot get a no-no or a shutout to save my life

I almost had a no-hitter. Actually, i think it was a perfect game as i had no walks and had no men on base until the 7th.

Regardless, 2 men down in the 7th and still a good amount of pitches left in my pitcher so i felt good. Then, the game turned into MLB: Bush League 2011.

Seriously, the other team bunted with 2 down just to get a man on base. I was flippin furious, since i didnt expect it in a 0-2 count, and low and behold, the runner made it.

Finished the game with that ONE hit, and a walk which i served up in the 9th. Still irks me as i havent come close ( 4 hit shutout or so ) since and doubt i will.

OH well. At least the game is ingenuitive and realistic. I see some teams bunting to break up a perfect, but i thought it was like some sort of unwritten rule.

Well, the idea of using a bunt to break up a no-no or a perfect game is an unwritten rule if it's a blowout, but in a close game it's all fair game. If a team is down 1-0 or 2-0 in late innings, it's not a bad idea to lay down a bunt to get the tying run on base, or up to the plate. The pitcher hasn't pitched from the stretch all game, so his ability to spot his pitches might drop dramatically if he now is pitching from a new setup and with a guy on base. I think something like this happened quite a few years ago with Curt Schilling on the mound.

Now if it's a 6-0 deficit and a guy bunts just to break up a perfect game or a no-hitter, then he better be ready to duck his next time up to bat.

I allowed 7 runs against the Mariners, but pitched a shutout against the heavy hitting White Sox... Makes no sense, but with Coke on the mound, I'm pitching an entirely different game. Plus I'm starting to love the sinker.

I almost had another Perfect Game. This time as Johan opening day vs the Marlins. But Omar Infante barely got the ball past Wright for a 1-out single. Got the 1-hit shutout at least.

On veteran hitting & pitching. I'm not very skilled at this game.

4-0 Opening Day in my Reds franchise against the Brewers, at this rate I will end up with 162 shutouts on the season

I pitched a combined shutout in game 2 of my franchise. Does that count?

7 shutout innings from Burnett. 8th: Soriano...9th: Mo.

Just pitched my first ever no-hitter with Tommy Hanson against the Dodgers in my Franchise. I faced the minimum. Walked a batter in the 2nd but he was erased by a double play. Not a "perfect game" but as close as you can get i suppose.

His line was
9 in
0 hits
1 walk
3 k's
27 batters faced
103 total pitches

I also hit for the cycle with Martin Prado in the third or fourth game of the season. Its been a magical year for the 13-4 Braves. lol
