Wow, massive changes to the dimensions of Citi Field for 2012

    http://goo.gl/QacMu

Apparently the wall will be 8 feet tall all the way around with much shallower power alleys. The wall is even going to be blue again! (See, the SCEA devs were right all along when they made it blue in 09 - they knew how it should be!)

I sure hope this makes it in MLB 12 because it's certainly going to be nice going on the road to play there. I've always found myself perhaps a bit too reliant on the long ball, and parks like Citi Field kill me. Finally the place is going to be a bit more neutral or maybe even hitter-friendly. If we're lucky, maybe they'll keep the old dimensions on that minor league park called The Porch so that we'll get to experience the torture of hitting in old Citi Field whenever we want.

Something in my gut tells me these changes might be a little too late for the SCEA devs to incorporate into '12, but if not it probably wouldn't be that much to add, since they would only have to make additions to the existing structure instead of changing what's already there.

But I definitely hope they squeeze these changes in because its something the Mets brass should have done since last year, the park was just too damn big!

Would be nice but don't count on these new changes to make it in until MLB 13 The Show.

Yeah, I guarantee SCEA will give their 100% to put the new changes in. They want to see all the details correct as much as us (maybe even more)

I wish the Padres would do the same.

No, I've decided that would backfire because our ownership still wouldn't pay for people who can hit the ball and then our pitching advantage goes away.

But I know what you mean.

Nah, we gotta have some pitchers' parks out there! Plus, the young pitchers there must love it!

I am a Mets fan and I do agree that that the SCEA put their best foot forward in improving a great game every year. However, if they really put in "100%" every year, why are the Mets uniforms incorrect EVERY single season since The Show '09? Its pretty insulting that the devs can capture where the concessions are in the shadows of every stadium but they can't get the helmet and home colors of a big league team correct. They can focus on that before getting the stadium picture perfect.

Because Sony has to follow that darn MLB uniform Guide 100%!

If its not in the MLB uniform Guide then it will not be in MLB The Show!

exactly. if it says black helmets with white uniforms, your getting a black helmet with white uniforms.

Ramone says the changes to Citi will be in!

At least it will make the ballpark look better (as if this is how it was meant to be IMO), but I always despise the argument to help players hit home runs a little more. The article itself reads that there were fewer home runs in other ballparks (SF and PETCO). San Diego already made a slight change to right-center, and San Francisco won't change a thing. Think it's hard to pop a home run to left at Citi? Try AT&T Park. Nobody there is complaining; it's the nature of the way the park is built, and they should simply leave it be as far as that integrity goes.

However, as I said, this will make the park more aesthetically appealing, and the boys in Flushing will be maximizing profits with these new seats. Not a bad move, but I just don't like hearing players complain that they can't hit home runs, as if that's the only thing that matters in this game (and that the other team isn't granted the exact same advantage).

Glad to hear the changes will be made in the game! SCEA is on top of their stuff, as always!

I know this'll sound weird, but I'd like if they kept the old version of the stadium in there (since it's already made, and leaving it in would just require them not going to the trouble of taking it out of the game).

I don't know if there's too big a crunch for space on the disc to leave it in there, and I know almost nobody would care or have any interest in using the more pitcher-friendly version instead of the modified one to help hitters.

I was just thinking, sort of how the game still had the faces of old players on the disc (remember when I bought the game, finding out I could find guys like Ken Griffey whose faces were put in years ago and they just never bothered taking it out even when the guy retired)... if they had room to leave the old version of Citi Field in, I'd probably opt for the more pitcher-friendly version whenever I played a game in NY.
