Wow, massive changes to the dimensions of Citi Field for 2012

They changed the dimensions to Citi Field because they wanted to make the playing field even for both the Hitters and Pitchers. I think we can all admit it was very very pitcher friendly. Coming from Shea Stadium they were used to having a level playing field where like someone posted above me said the hitters could hit it out and the pitchers could keep it in. To go from that ballpark to a hitter's nightmare was not what they wanted. Therefore they changed the dimensions to make the game more fair. Were there influences from their hitters like David Wright and Jason Bay, of course. But this helps their pitchers too because they admitted they wouldn't think as much on the mound because they knew that if they made a mistake, Citi Field would prevent them from being penalized and that hurt their pitching staff while on the road and playing in bandboxes like Philly and Cincy.

It really looks awesome from the pics I've seen. I'm glad they got it in, and now I'm even more excited about it. Right behind Opening Day as my favorite day of the year is The Show release day!

Thanks for digging this up. I was about to ask in the Q and A thread if they got the new dimensions in, but according to Knight's post they did. It looks nice how they use the old wall as a backdrop.
