Community Day is soon upon us. Please use this thread to voice any questions/inquiries you have about the gameplay this year. You can state anything you'd like for us to look out for. Please keep in mind some new additions this year may make your fear moot.

Also, please don't use this thread to have long, convoluted discussions and personal rants. I would like everyone to have the chance to share their opinion. It would actually be beneficial if you just use the "EDIT" button on your original post instead of making a large bunch of thoughts throughout the entire thread.

1. Have they changed the "PCI lock" that occurs upon pressing the swing button?

Explanation:
Zone Hitting: In previous games, you are unable to move the PCI instantly after pressing the swing button. In the heat of a pitch and swing, this results in a lot of failed swings. The PCI would often still be in the middle of the zone, because my right thumb happened to press the swing button milliseconds before my left thumb moved the analog stick. I'd like to know if this has been changed this year, as I'd like to see this changed, so that the "lock" only occurs shortly before the batter actually swings the bat. In other words, you'd get about another second or so, as the batter prepares to swing, where you can still move the PCI.


2. I'd like to know if fielders are now free of the "speed bursts" and "vacuum gloves" that have shown up in previous years.

1. Has bunting been improved so you can pull your bunt try back easier?

2. Has check swinging been improved so its a little easier to check swing? Or do Umpires still call most of your check swings strikes?

3. Has any of the "Slow" Take Your Time" fielding animations been improved or removed for CPU or user controlled?

4. On a Home Run do the base runners still start to jog right after the ball is hit which gives away that its a Home Run even before it goes over the fence?

5. Are CPU outfielders now more aggressive on sacrifice fly balls? Being ready to catch and throw to home plate faster?

6. Is there now a difference with the batters for being either a pull hitter or opposite field hitter?

7. Is it any easier to make diving catches in the outfield or robbing home runs?

8. Are all CPU fielders more aggressive in general?

9. Do batters get out of the batters box any quicker? Some say they were to slow getting out of the batters box.

10. Are the CPU base runners less aggressive on the base paths? Like when a hard ground ball is hit say to third base and the CPU runner on third tries and comes home with only 1 out.

11. With the New Ball Physics will we no longer get the UFO style Home Runs? And are you seeing lots of new kinds of hits?

12. Are there Ball Boys/Ball Girls or Bat Boys on the field?

13. Can fans reach over rails and actually pick up a baseball now? And can they even make a catch now?

14. Were a lot of new foul ball camera cuts added? Or are they still all the same?

15. Does the pitcher ever look over to first, second or third base when there is a runner on base?

16. Is the screen wipe for replays still there? And if so has it at least been sped up so it does not show on screen as long?

17. Has that chain sound been removed when a ball hits the net behide home plate?

18. Can I now take practice swings before the CPU catcher calls for an intentional walk? This was a bug in MLB 11 The Show.

19. Are pitchers still like NHL goalies?

20. Is the ghosting with the players on the field really gone for good?

21. Are there a lot better pitching animations in the game now? Or do most pitchers still look awkward and stiff?

22. Do pitchers still pump their fists after every strike out? I always hated this.

1. On some line drives and fly balls to the outfield in previous games required your OF to attempt to catch the ball on the run and sometimes the animation won't kick-in even if the outfielder is within range to attempt to catch the ball on the run. This has resulted in some frustrating extra base-hits since the ball would either go through the outfielder or just pass him. I have seen this happen a couple of times and it's always been when your runner is in a dead sprint for the ball.

2. Is it easier to pull inside pitches fair this year (left field for righties, etc. for lefties)? I had a lot of inside pitches end up pulled foul or jammed.

3. Is it possible to increase the likelihood for a base stealer with good baserunning ability to slide in head first rather than feet first. I know it's possible to influence the slide, but with slide assist and for the CPU based on my playthrough with franchise this year, a lot of them go feet first and that slide animation causes them to slow down, often times costing the would-be base stealer a stolen base with a great jump.

1. Have the jersey number been added back while the players are in the base running window.

2. Do we have full human control of the slides?

I believe the base runners in the windows have the numbers removed for memory reasons.

Can runners get back to the bag quicker on pick off plays? At 1st base and especially 2nd base. Sometimes at 2nd base the runners do this weird headfirst slide where they appear to be easily safe, but get called out every time this certain rollover slide animation takes place.

Has the 'view stats' changed in presentation terms? Can we now see the different teams an individual player has played for through the years?

Have they added complete career stats?

What changes have been made to the presentation? Is it a complete overhaul or some minor adjustments?

If they show you the vita version, how does it compare gameplay, commentary and cut scenes to the ps3 version?

Do pitchers still wear long sleeves 90% of the time during night games?

Are there still replays on every base hit in broadcast mode? Even if its not a big hit...

Do players that dont have a secondary position get put at a position by the cpu that don't they play?

Is DH a position we can give a player this year?

will we finally get rosters/lineups that wont change in franchise mode when we are not controlling that team? Example: you dont control the Cardinals and computer puts Matt Holiday batting 2nd in all 4 lineups! Basicaaly will we finally have set lineups?
