Re: timing hitting? most realistic way to hit?
Yes, just a regular swing. More power than contact, but not as good putting the bat on the ball. Less power than Power, but better at putting the bat on the ball.Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a ttoal jmulbe and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

Re: timing hitting? most realistic way to hit?
Timing hitting uses players attributes more than any other hitting mode. I use timing hitting, classic pitching, and auto fielding to get the most sim experience possible and making transactions for your team during a season that much more important.Comment

Re: timing hitting? most realistic way to hit?
I hit almost all my homeruns with the X button on timing hitting. When I use Square to much I end up popping it up a lot.
Try going into a HR derby and using only Square one round, then do the same but use X.. you will see a big difference.Comment

Re: timing hitting? most realistic way to hit?
I try to use the "appropriate" swing in all situations and it seems to have accurate results. I.E. if there's two outs and no-one on and Jay Bruce is at the plate, I use the power swing. If there's a runner at 3rd with less then two outs I use contact and try to bring the runner home. If there's a runner at 2nd I swing X in hopes of a basehit to bring the runner home. I use X prolly 85% of the time.
Also, if I guess the pitch wrong I always use X if it's a strike despite the situation. Square always ends up in a whiff for me in those situations.Comment

Re: timing hitting? most realistic way to hit?
I use the normal swing (X) 99 percent of the time. The only time I use power swing (Square) is on a 3-0 count and even then, I don't swing unless it is right down the middle. I never use contact (o)....not sure why I don't tbh. The normal swing works in any situation, be it if you want to hit a homerun or get a basehit. It's worked well for me since I first started playing in '08est 1978

Re: timing hitting? most realistic way to hit?
Noone else feels like timing hitting is too easy? One game I played with the Orioles using timing hitting and I won 13-2 with a grand slam and a few more home runs. Another game I'm in the middle of I just finished the 3rd inning after batting around and getting 8 runs, including another grand slam. I hope its not like this every game.

^ There's difficulty levels you know...
I'm not personally a fan of Timing hitting, but I agree with the stuff in this thread, you can't get any closer to authentic baseball sim-type stats and ratings, than with Timing hitting.Comment
