Re: Late inning goofiness

If anything SCEA just made the game more realistic for batters in the late innings. They get an idea on what the pitcher is throwing and can be more aggressive because they know what you're going to throw. Either switch pitchers or change up your approach. Maybe start the hitter off with a change up instead of a fastball and get them out with a two seamer instead of a curve.

There is NO comeback code.

Although the game is so realistic it makes me nervous. I make more errors late in the game.

I would say the only thing to me that is blatantly scripted are the late inning errors. You could put money on it that errors are going to occur in the 8th and 9th inning. I am not talking user input error either, I am talking errors generated by the CPU when fielding grounders or can of corn fly balls. Very irritating.

I think it has more to do with a players clutch slider. I have a relief pitcher who is lights out in the 6 th & 7th but a train wreck in the 8th & 9th. His clutch rating is in the middle.

I tend to agree. I've played 140 games in my Yankees season so far (played them all, no simming) and I've had quite a few games where the CPU seemed to get a boost and quite a few where nothing interesting happened at all. For instance, two games ago, I was up 5-2 in the 8th so brought in Soriano. First batter hits a routine grounder to Jeter who promptly boots the ball (generated error, not throwing error). Next batter crushes a hanger. Bottom 9, up 5-4, bring in Mo for the save, but a double and another jack later, I lose 6-5.

Very next game, Pineda throws a complete game, 1-hitter in a 4-0 win, nothing even remotely questionable happens. If there is a code, it certainly doesn't show up in all games.

I used to be vocal in terms of expressing my frustration over this supposed code, but for those of you who still ask why the developers would implement such a code, it's not difficult to figure out. They know their user base are sim heads and so in an effort to maintain realistic records and results, they could implement such a code to keep things close and wanting you to play more. Further, it could also have been implemented due to shoddy programming. Regardless, if the code does exist, it certainly doesn't show up nearly all the time in my experiences.

you may bring that on the table at the Community Day then. Should be interesting what the devs have to say about it !!
