    MLB 13 The Show Worries

I have been reading some forums and a lot of people are saying that they are disappointed and that the ratings and progression are messing up. I Won't get to play the game until around March 9th and I am a little worried. I have always loved the show and I hope these are minor problems that people are exaggerating. Are there really these problems? Or is it a good game but people are making a mountains out of a mole hills?

Guys have said they want to see movement in ratings.
Surprises and not the usual hum-drum auto pilot franchise.
You're going to have to watch your players now...closely.

Ok. I like that older players decrease faster because, well, isn't that what they do in real life? Yes. So I like that they incorporated that into this years game. They are saying it is like a 20 point decrease from ST to opening day and it makes me wonder if its messed up.

It's not like that for all players, but some drop incredibly quickly. i only play RTTS so it's not that bad for my experience, but I would like to see players able to take a shot at some hitting records, but with the rating drops it looks like unless you're up at 19 and hitting 40 HR's every year or 225 hits, all the records are safe.

          No...it's by design.
It could be 20....could only be 5....or none.

Someone said D jeter and A-rod decreased 20 points from ST to Opening day. They are old but they are still very good. Well jeter is, a-rod I can understand.

Play the game for yourself. Sometimes the forums are your enemy I told myself this year I'm staying away from the bug threads and worrying about my own time with the show. Then when a patch drops I'll be seeing stuff fixed that I might not have noticed.

You think jeter's still good but at his age you just never know when he might go in a slump and not come out of it. Could be this year, could be next, you just don't know... But it will happen at some point. Mlb players tend to not have a gradual falloff, instead they tend to hit a brick wall.

True. I guess I am just freaking myself out. How do you download a patch?

Re: MLB 13 The Show Worries

I too have to wait till next week to play so i've been reading everything I can on here. I was worried when I heard someone mentioned stacking his team with A level/top 50 prospects in the draft as well as what you mention. I have some concern over the player training feature, in that what I've read indicates the CPU doesn't train the players as effective and by doing it manually you gain an advantage over doing it auto, I would hope the other CPU teams train their guys effectively I would hate to have an advantage I may end up leaving it on auto or limiting my usage of this improved feature and that would be unfortunate.

All I can say is have faith. The devs have proven to be very competent in how they design the game and I believe they deserve the benefit of the doubt until we really investigate things.

I am hoping someone does a comprehensive franchise sim and posts results soon. But I am impressed with what I have read of how the game works in all areas from controls to franchise. I'd suggest watching the Player Control video that got posted a few days ago it really goes into detail how they designed that system and it would seem logical that they thought out the other areas of the game as well.

As long as your PS 3 is connected to the internet, you should see a notice to download an update.

Here's a worry I have: I am getting like 1 or 2 hits a game... Very frustrating this "new improved" hitting.

I've played the show for the last 4 years and the 1st game I played was in "Beginner" mode. 11 to 2 Yankees win over Cleveland. This year I'm working my way up from the bottom!

I am not worried about this at all. I have heard good things about the new hitting. You should edit sliders or go down a hitting level. Use the new beginner mode, that should help you get better, that's why they put this into the game.
