30 Team Control & Automatic Lineups

    Hi Guys,
I had a question I was wondering if someone could assist me with. For the first time this year I'm going to use 30 team control, and I was curious if for the "computer" settings profile, where you set the majority of franchise options to automatic, if you also set lineups to automatic?

I guess what I'm getting at is, I don't want to have to manage every team's lineup. Especially if there is an injury and the lineup needs to be adjusted for say, the Royals or something like that. But in my division (NL East) some of the teams I play against lineups really bug me. For example: BJ Upton bats last for the Braves, or I think may even be benched in some situations (I forget if it's against lefties or righties).

If I set to Lineups to Auto and change the lineup for the Braves to what it should be, will the computer just put it right back or will it keep to what I change it to? I'm just trying to decide if manual is the way to go, or if I just want to micro-manage a couple lineups if it's ok to stick with auto lineups.

Hope this question makes sense, thanks guys appreciate the help as always!

    Here is what I do....
I create 3 profiles for my franchise.
    1. Mine...all my settings as I like them.
    2. the CPU profile which has everything to AUTO...I give this to the other 29 teams to start
    3. A third CPU profile which has lineups/rotations set to MANUAL....so that I can set their lineup when I'm about to play them...and that's the lineup I see.(other than for fatigue)

I simply assign it at the start of that series.

Genius. I would have never thought of that. I'll have to keep that in mind if I am playing some bad lineups down the road. Generally I just keep it on auto and its passable for me I guess.

That's awesome idea ill do that. Thanks man really appreciate it! Just one more question, I should probably know this. I just thought you could only set a CPU profile when you were first starting a franchise? Would you mind telling me where I go to assign a specific team that 3rd profile before I play them?

Then when your done playing that team do you put it back to auto? Thanks again knight really appreciate it. Awesome job with the rosters by the way you and all the guys do a great job every year!

You will see a page with USER SETTINGS at the top.....
Down towards the bottom there is a SET PROFILE ASSOCIATION option.
It will bring up all the teams you chose when you started the franchise...
Use the R stick to cycle through the profiles when you are highlighting a team.
Remember to set the one you just played back to full auto when you move onto the next series.(it's easy to forget :o...as I am constantly reminded of when I get the prompt to fix so and so's lineup )

That is a brilliant idea! I never thought of setting up 2 different profiles for CPU. Now I can set CPU lineups against me and put Braun, McCuthen, Posey, Tulo and Cargo on the bench, and avoid hitting against Medlen, Strasburg, and any other rude pitcher.

Nah, just kidding, I won't do that, but it's an interesting idea ;-)

my question is also lineup related. I'm wondering if it hurts the development of prospects if they spend a year in single A or is player progression uneffected by where and how much they are playing?

I saw a lot of good prospects from the cpu teams in single A after ST and I don't feel like editing all rosters..

No....as of now....level doesn't play a part in season to season progression.

I forget about how the Farm Director vs. coaches/manager(MLB level) play into the IN season ups and downs.

Hopefully they put in place something that helps/hinders what level you keep a players in regards to progression(ala OOTP)

                    Cavicchi...

Brilliant? I don't think I've ever been accused of being brilliant about anything.
(just ask my wife.....unless brilliant is a synonym for idiot)

What I also don't understand is that some very good players remain in the minors at the beginning of the regular season. Examples in my franchise are Matt Garza, Phil Hughes, Jose Contreras or Jason Giambi. All with higher overalls than many of the players on their teams MLB roster.

I guess they are in the Minors on the OSFM roster because they have been injured in real life or signed to minor league contracts but why doesn't the computer call them up?

That's especially strange since other players who are initially in Minor leagues like Chris Carpenter or Johan Santana have been brought up to the MLB by that time.

                        40 man roster.
If a player is not on the 40 man roster.....he won't get a call up.
The CPU doesn't look past there unless it's totally out of options and has to add a player onto the 40 man(which I've NEVER seen it do when not in the off season...that's when it re-adjusts it's 40 man roster)...

A definite weak are of the AI and one that will be addressed in the future I would say.

Here is something to keep in the back of your mind.
If you WANT to see a player get called up(if there are injuries to MLB players)....just make sure he is on the 40 man roster in the base set (or you add him with 30 team control) you use.
It goes the other way as well. You can pretty much control who doesn't get called up by keeping him off the 40 man.

Thanks man! I had no clue.

So will the CPU completely re-adjust the 40 man roster in the first offseason, meaning remove the worst players and put their best on it or just add players for those leaving the team? I'm asking because if that's the case then I could just add veteran players to the 40 man roster and let the CPU take care of the prospects in the next offseason since they wouldn't make much of an impact anyways the first year..

Just noticed with this yesterday, possibly a bug. If you take a player off the 40 man for entire season he loses his contract in the offseason. I was playing with some rosters I downloaded and they had all the injured guys like ARod off the 40. In the offseason they were all free agents.

                              Just an FYI
