In retrospect, this is about what we should expect. Guys in 30s and 40s these days are the first generation who really grew up with playing video games when young, and it's no surprise they keep the hobby. In fact, I remember reading a blog article saying that the average video gamers are 35 y.o., married male. I don't know if it was in UK or US, but the result was something like that.

I've always asked the same thing. Based on my YouTube comments and ratings (I have football and baseball vis) I'd concur that The Show fans in general are more laid back. And I don't think it's just the show, but baseball fans and players in general. I mean when is the last time you heard a baseball player committing murder or getting arrested for something serious (hint: NFL).

It takes maturity to accept a challenge. You play this on anything above beginner and its difficult.

I get frustrated as hell when some junk ball pitcher is making me look silly as he paints the corners and never gets me something good. But my god does it feel great to wait and wait and wait and finally he makes a mistake and hangs a curve.

I am 52yo, and have been playing sports sims since the best ones were played with dice and cards. MLB The Show 13 represents, in my opinion the baseball game we have waited for since the days of Earl Weaver Baseball on the Commodore 64/128 and Amiga. I have never been a joystick jock; every game through the years I have always "played" in Commissioner/God mode, lording over all the teams and watching the cpu do the playing. With MLB The Show 13, this seems to be the default, while in the past, cpu v cpu games were the option. The many complaints I have read on this forum have been from the average gamer who desires to throw themselves into the game as a pitcher/batter/fielder. But for me, the developers have nailed big-league baseball. All the detail, the pace and, with a tweak of the sliders, the gameplay, all add up to a major league experience, day in and day out. The different broadcast perpectives found in every park really adds to the experience for me because I am a baseball media junkie. The only thing that could possibly be added to this game is to have each broadcast feature the home teams announcers. The only game that I remember that allowed you to choose announcers was the Tony LaRussa/Oldtime baseball series. And those were not announcing teams, but old-fashioned play-by-play men, the "voices" of the game. And there was only a choice of 3 in one game, 2 in the other. But I believe adding something like that would be an unbelievable task for any development team, but I personally would love it.

Greatest pat ourselves on the back thread ever!

I got the PS3 back in 2007 just to play the game. Huge baseball fan my whole life, but I never really dug into the game until I started playing The Show. MVP Baseball you could live on the corners. But in The Show, try being too fine and it's a recipe for disaster. Robbing a home run never felt as rewarding as it does here. And small things like Heyward making a diving play to end the inning and showing the crowd, blows my mind. Oh yeah, I actually walk in this game!!!

But the base does tend to be mature because it's the most difficult sports title on the market. It's not like Madden where there's money plays. Or NBA2K where you can light it up beyond the arc nightly (SPLAAAASH). You have to actually know the game. The younger gamer would probably get mad that a pitch right down the middle hit solidly with perfect timing goes straight to the center fielder. "Where's the reward!? I hit it perfectly!" Where do you think the ball is supposed to go? You hit it perfectly straight! If that was a golf shot, you'd want it to go straight, right? It's hard for them to process the thought of early timing, or just late can change the trajectory of the ball and send it to the gap. In the upper-levels of this game, you have to have a gameplan on every pitch. It's closest thing to playing in the big leagues I'll ever get.

My dad(42), my brother (12), and I(15) all love the show. I have been a huge baseball fan all of my life and also a faithful Cubs fan. (Due to my up-bringing.)
I recently bought a ps3 after years of playing crappy games on wii. The factor thAt made me choose the ps3 was The Show. I had played the demo of The show 11 for hours, awaiting the release of 13. Its friggin amazing. I absolutely love franchise and rtts. The feeling of acomplishment when I won the 2016 WS with the cubbies after developing the entire farm system was amazing. I consider myself as a mature player. For the most part, Im patient at the plate, and i dont get frustrated very often. I love building a team around a core and developing prospects instead of aquiring big name free agents. Now, my bro and my dad love playing rtts. My brother plays on a low difficulty and cranks up the hitting sliders to make it fun for him. I understand where hes coming from but i never do this. My dad is still working on being more patient at the plate, but he is immenced in this game. The Show is the first game he has put quite a bit of time into since his early days.
As you can see, the dudes in our family love the show.

And to Nate Jelinek.. The point about three of you each enjoying the game from different aspects is what the game is all about.

Pre-video, in chronological order: My own created game with a deck of cards; All-Star Baseball; Sports Illustrated Baseball; APBA; Strat-o-Matic; Sher-co, Big League Manager; Negamco; Extra Innings; Longball; and Statis-Pro, from the age of 8 to 24. I asked my first wife to purchase Statis-Pro for me during the first of what would be many hospital stays, to help wile away the idle time. I was 24, in the year 1985, so the 1984 Cubs, (Sufcliffe, Sandberg and {ugh}Durham)were the highlight of the card set for that season. That game helped me through a very difficult time. I am also a lifelong Cub fan. But take note: I never finished a season with any of these games! Keeping stats with my Radio Shack calculator, pencils and seveal erasers always wore me down, as I tried to play every game on the schedule. That didn't happen until I bought a Commodore 64 and used a program called Lance Haffner Baseball that allowed me to sim most of the games and came with a stats compiler(!). I will never forget that first World Series after replaying the 1985 season: St. Louis Cardinals, with those jackrabbits Smith, McGee, Herr and Coleman, to go with the pitching of Andujar, Forsch, Tudor and Hrabosky beat the Toronto Blue Jays, with Barfield, Moseby, Gruber and a young firstbase platoon of pre-Crime Dog McGriff and Prince's dad, 4 games to 3.

But kudos to the dad who is still up there swinging! My daughter challenges me to a NBA2k13 (her favorite) match all the time and I just can't pick up the joystick. But I'm all for Rocksmith (I play guitar for a living).

I'm 61 started with APBA and Strato-Matic in the early '60's.

Played all the early video BB games on the Genesis NES SNES. I even played the Japanese imports on the SNES. The Show is without a doubt the best of them all. Partial to 09 11 and 12.

OMG! I did 1985 too!! And it ended up exactly the same as real life with Cards, Dodgers, Jays, and I want to say Twins. And I did the makeshift playing card game too. Ha Ha Ha Ha that's too funny
