They do have correct contract length in game. Roster updates throughout the season even incorporate in season extensions that are signed.

They have never had permission for real salaries.
They even got fined for getting a little too close one year with some.

Yea, pretty sure it has to do with the fact that they only have the third party license and not an exclusive license.

I believe 2k used to have the correct contracts and lengths, could be wrong though.

Correct. MLB won't allow player salaries for reasons known only to MLB.

If you ask me, its incredibly stupid!

You can easily Google the contract terms and add them to the game yourself or at least as close as possible... sorta, but SCEA cant do it automatically.

            Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!

Actually I don't think even MLB knows.

Is this true? That's interesting if so.

This went back to when I asked Kolbe about salaries and contract lengths.

I don't know if there was ever a specific reason told to him or SCEA about it....but he told me they were told by the MLB that using exact $$ and lengths was not an option for them, they were to use fictitious numbers.

I think the speculation about the license came from the fact that 2K was allowed to use real amounts.

Just a guess but perhaps both management and the union are worried about a game using actual salaries and AI written to replicate contract negotiations being used by the other side in the negotiation as a base line.

Could be too much reality for their comfort zone.

I'm not sure if being able to edit them is an option. I will ask Russell(AKA Dwight Howard lookalike)at CES.

Re: Why don't they use correct player contract length and salaries

Is there any sports game in which contracts (in terms of length and money) are exactly reflected from the real life?

I've never been good at accounting, so I don't know how well The Show has been reproducing the aspect of the sport business. But even if the game uses the same contract length and $$$ involved, things probably won't play out well in the game unless the franchise AI does the same line of thinking as real GMs do. Is $1 million worth the same thing to AI as it is to GMs in real life? Otherwise, things won't stay realistic after running the franchise for a few years. (This could be important, as we will have franchise transfer from next year on.)

Being able to edit these pieces of info would be the best compromise I think.

Not sure if this possible, but since 2k supposedly isn't making another baseball game, is it possible for SCEA to acquire exclusive party rights? it would most likely be expensive, but it's time for this franchise to take the next step to create the most realistic baseball simulation possible.

I think youre reading too much into it. The contracts are of public record to the point of being searchable on Google and released by almost every sporting news entity.

I think its likely they just did it and were protected by the licensing unless the licences really did allow for the actual contracts.

The NHL series does this to nearly a tee. And I think 2k basketball's pretty accurate as well.
