Thankfully, we’ve had the roster vault available which has been so helpful. So many great creators have put together really strong rosters to help the community out. However, I still feel like there are some improvements that can be made.
That is why last year I took advantage of the early days of COVID and dedicated 60+ hours to creating my own roster. It ended up turning out to be a pretty strong roster with nearly 1000 downloads from the vault.
I want to take it to the next level this year, however, I just don’t have the time to do it single handily. I am a full-time medical student and I just purely do not have 60+ hours to dedicate, so I am asking for help from the community.
I have been doing some testing to figure out how to best correlate real life stats into MLB The Show ratings and attributes, and I think I got the secret sauce to make the perfect roster set. Here are the features:
—Accurate ratings of all MLB players corresponding to real life performances (e.g. if a player hits .270 in real life, he should hit roughly .270 in the game)
—Every team’s top 30 prospects (MLB Pipeline) with accurate ratings based on current performances, future projections, and MLB ETA
—Tiered potentials based on past, current, and future projection performances for current MLB players and projected future roles for MiLB players (creates a logjam of “average” players and makes “good” and “elite” players feel that way)
—More accurate pitching positions (e.g. swing pitchers will be RPs with good stamina, only pitchers who have actual potential as CPs will be given that designation)
Based off of those characteristics, I would need individuals who could do the following:
—Identify a team’s entire 40-man roster and make sure they are all included in the roster set
—Do the same with every team’s top 30 prospects
—Fill out the rest of the 90-man roster with necessary real-life AAA and AA players (this includes and should prioritize former MLB players on minor league contracts)
—Collect the necessary statistics to properly edit individual MLB player attributes to better represent their actual play in real life
—Collect scouting reports and specific statistics to properly edit MiLB players (scouting reports accessible through MLB Pipeline)
Ideally, we could get 30 individuals to edit the 30 teams, but we could work with less than that. I think you could probably get a single team edited in 3-5 hours (that is including all research and preparation time).
Let me know if you are interested in helping out with this project. Once I get enough interest, I can send out a full plan of attack, including information on how to translate real life performance and potentials into the game. I truly believe we could make one hell of a roster set if we all worked together.
