Installation from disc

Odd question..anyone with both digital and physical copy of the game? I have the physical copy for my son but prefer digital so I am installing the digital copy now. My question is, can I use the physical disk to install the game and then just download the digital version to speed things up since the install files are already on my PS4. I assume the download/install should be quicker but am not sure. Don't want to kill my download now since i have 12GB installed and have to start over if my theory doesnt work.

Am I doing something wrong, my install took no more then 10 min If that, how you guys getting 40-45 min?

I was a little worried when I saw a lot of people saying 2 and 3 hours for their download. But mine just started downloading and it says it's got 63 minutes remaining, so it shouldn't take me more than hour. I'm guessing it has to do with your internet connection.

New to PS4, but when I had my 360, if you have a disc, you put the disc in and played whatever. I understand the patch downloads, but what is it installing if you are playing off a disc?

It took mine 43 minutes to be exact, to install. I was in party chat and unpacking boxes while it installed, so it went quickly.

The new gen consoles install the games from the disc, similar to your PC, except you still need the physical disc in for verification.

I popped it in and then took one kid to dance and picked up the other. Got home and it was done.
